MARKEN GLEANERS CLUB WILL HOLD POTLUCK Hie Gleaners club of Escondido chapter 131, Order of Eastern Star, will hold Its regular potluck and business meeting on Wednesday in the Masonic hall.

Hostesses will be Myrtle Keith and Elizabeth Wilkinson. All Masons and Eastern Star members are Invited to the potluck dinner to be served at noon. The Hellers came to Escondido from Van Nuys about five years ago. FORMER OPERA SINGER WILL SING AT RALLY Rev. Carl Folk will be the speaker at the Youth for Christ rally to be held Saturday night at the YFC hall. He was booked for the local organization by Roy McKcown, regional vice president of Youth for Christ. Rev.

Folk has been an evangelist and pastor for several years and is also a singer, lie was formerly an opera singer and ho will sing several songs for the local rally. Leo Calac, song leader, will start the rally promptly at 7:30 p.m. by leading the group in some gospel chorusTs. Town and Counfry CluE I Has Pafio Party The Town and Country club met for a barbecue patio party given at the Homer Heller home on Tuesday night. Approximately 100 persons attended. Tables were placed around the patio and tennis court for the buffet style dinner. Richard Knight and James Hanson tended the barbecue.

Modem and square dancing was enjoyed after the supper. George Brede was caller for the square dances. Chairman for the party was Mrs. Jack Zieger. She was assisted by Mmes.

NOTED POLICE OFFICIAL WILL SPEAK AT PICNIC The Bahai Assembly of Escondido will hold ji picnic at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jones, 228 Lincoln, at noon Sunday. An open meeting will follow the picnic at 2 p.m.

Robert Boyd Powers, who will address the meeting, is well known thruout the United States for his work as a police official. Several of his articles on law enforcement have appeared in the Saturday Evening Post. Beginning his work in the east, he left New Jersey to come out to Bakersfield where he served as chief of police for 12 years. During World War II Powers was called by Attorney-General Robert Kenney to act as expeditor for all law enforcement agencies of California. His book on the handling of racial relations is widely used by the police.

The picnic and the meeting are open to the public. A question period will follow thes address. VALLEY RIDERS HOLD 1 POTLUCK FOR 35 The Escondido Valley Riders had a potluck dinner Wednesday night at the Valley Riders clubhouse. Approximately 35 mem bers and guests were present. Miss Scardino attends Escondido1 Union high school. LaPointe is stationed in San Diego and is from Newark, N. J. McCAINS SELL RANCH, MOVING BACK tO CITY Mr. and Mrs.

Ted McCain have sold their attractive, modernized ranch home in Valley Center to Misses Jordan and Clark of Pacific Beach, who will move here in the near future to make their home. The McCains moved their furniture to storage in Escondido Wednesday and will remove it to their duplex on West Fourth avenue as soon as present tenants can find a new location. Mr. and Mrs. McCain are celebrating their return to city life in Escondido with a trip' up the coast, having departed Thursday with plans to be gone about a week, spent at resorts in Balboa, Doheney Park and Long Beach.

Mr. McCain found that running a ranch while he was also operating a business in town was an overload on his time and endurance. AREA AUXILIARY PLANS JAMBOREE The San Diego Eagles auxiliary meeting was attended Wednesday bight by Fern Bader, Irene Schilder, Anna Kasitz, Beulah Mills and Sarah George from Escondido auxiliary will be host on is planning a jamboree from Aug. 31 thru Sept. 2.

The Escondido auxiliary wil be host on the 2nd. A joint officers meeting was held at the Elmer Bader home on Tuesday night. A barbecued steak dinner was served. A potluck and swimming party has been planned at the Clifford Bates home in Valley Center. A jitney dinner and bazaar will be held at the Eagles hall by the auxiliary on Sept.

21. DUPLICATE BRIDGE GROUP ENTERTAINED AT LAZY Members (of the Duplicate Bridge' club were entertained Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. Fred Speers. Winners for east-west were Mrs. L.

E. Adams and Mrs. C. A. Van Dusen.

North-south honors were won by Mrs. E. L. Noel and Mrs. Speers.

Mrs. Darwin Ting will be hostess for the next meeting in two weeks. There is no substitute for a Wantad. William Thompson Will Wed Denver Girl Villiam Thompson of Denver, son of Mr. and Mrs.

M. P. Thompson of Escondido, and Miss Louise Helen Gildart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gildart of Denver, will be married at 8 p.m.

Thursday (tonight) at Littleton, Colo. Major Edward Garrett will be best man at the double ring ceremony. Thompson is an instructor in the air force at Lowrey field. Mr. and Mrs.

M. P. Thompson and daughter Merri-lyn, of Escondido are in Colorado for the wedding. Congregational Groups Hold Picnic Approximately 200 members and friends of the First Congregational church participated in the church school and Mix-Fix club joint picnic in Felicita park Wednesday evening. Mr.

and Mrs. Dean Howell were in charge of the committee for the potluck dinner and program. They were assisted by Messrs, and Mmes. Leslie Shaw, Bill Rogers, Daniel Hege and Mac George. Malcolm Hege showed pictures of a recent eastern trip Ao the group and a film on the San Diego youth camp at Cuyamaca was also shown.

Children's games were played under the supervision of Deane Fish. The picnic, the third joint affair to be held by the two church groups, was the only combined social event planned by the groups for August. PLANS DISCUSSED HERE FOR SCHOOL WORKSHOP The San Diego County school Administrators workshop will be held at the Service Center in San Diego Aug. 21 thru 23. The theme will be Home, School and Community Relations.

A pre-meeting at the Conference room of Central school of the local group made plans for the coming workshop Wednesday night. Those attending were Miss Hilda Dovre, George Greenough, William Radney, J. R. Butler, and Mmes. E.
