Icing we may have a fair day and a great turnout, I remain, very truly vont, J. It. L11sToN. The Brubaker Managers Willing to Sacrifice the State Ticket to Their Seiti.h Purpose.

To the Editor of Tex Nay ERA. Iii the editorial columns of the Morni')g News to-day appeared the following positively proper and important paragraph: "The last day on which persons who desire to vote in November must be registered or assessed is Thursday, Sep' tember 3. This matter is a most important one. Let all good Republicans to it lot themselves that their names are on the list. Don't depend on some one else to do it for you, but do it yourself." Now, sir, since the editors of that paper, the coachers and backers of Mr.

Brubaker, are cognizant of the great importance of having a full registry of voters. is it not a most remarkable fact that at the instance of these same num the organization of the County Committee as held MI until 'September 1, just two days before the registry of voters closes and this was done, too. in spite of the fact that the friends of Judge Livingston wanted and expected that organization formed early in August, so that the central organization of the Republican party in this county would early be in position to enter what in this State especially, and in the nation at large, is a most important campaign. If the hope of electing Brubaker as Judge does depend upon the mnallness of the vote, will these gentlemen kindly explain why the State ticket should be sacrificed, and Republican principles en, dangered, for the gratification of a selfish personal ambition And it Is to be remembered that with a new registry law, which is as yet little understood, and is more important this year than it has been for many years, the County Committee shonld give careful attention to the registry lists. SA LUlt, 1858-lsoi WILL THE THE OVEHA HOUSE. Devils nted to a Good-Sized AudientoGus Hill To-Night- That famous spectacle, "The Devil's Auction, or the Golden Branch," of which the public never seem to tire, was presented in Fulton Opera House, en Wednesday evening, before a good-sired audience though the weather was warm. The gallery was full, the circle was well filled and people were sprinkled all ever the parquet. As to the plot, it is not neeessary to say anything, for everybody knows it. The company, with one or two exceptions, is a good one, and IRMO of them acquit tIIOflIF.OlVeS better than the well-known George Adams, who as "Toby," the donkey, afterwards transformed into a luau, is as funny es ever.

Miss Dempsey is a finely built woman and was a success as a fairy, but she disenchanted the audience when she began to sing. Some good specialties were unroduct3d, the best of which were the work of the Lovelies and the acrobatic feats of the Booshobles. The scenery and costumes were new and beautiful, the mechanical effects clever and the ballets original and well executed. It was a most satisfactory performance. To-night Gus 11111 and his World of Novelties will appear and will doubtless attract an audience commensurate with the excellence of tneir entertainment It is one of the finest and most deserving combinations now out.

The one wholly American comic opera that has been able to hold its OW against the importations and adaptations upon which the American stage depends almost entirely is Willard ripeneer's Little Tycoon" It has been sung almost constantly for five years, and the public has not sheen a sign of being tired of its delightful melodies. Almost, every Member In the cast has made a distinct hit. The waltz, "Love Comes Like a Summer Sigh," the eccentric "Beet and Toe," the topical 'When I was a Boy," and "It were Better Not to Know," the baritone Dark Though My Tale May Be," the daisy song and the Tycoon march are the particularly popular melodies. You Win miss a rare treat if you fail to hear them to-plorrow evening. PECIAL The Street Department to Varticipaot (Mice of Street Commissioner, HAIL LANcASTER, Aug.

As to C011M1011 C(11111- Ca, there being an intervening tneeting, it no doubt will accept the invitation lermally, and agree to participate as a One Of the most encouraging sights of the times is the endeavor of the laboring classes to assert their importance as members of an enlightened community. And what a happy thing it itt that the laboring classes, Composing moth than three-fourths of all States and communities, are blessed with the advantages of educat ion and Int ell igence, imalifying I hem to look after their interests in orderly and peaeeful ways. In view of the great coneentration of labor and capital and workingmen, destroying the individuality almost, there would be great danger of oppression if the masses were disqualified, by reason of lack of education to protect thetuselves in the manner they are doing it.
