Krengel's Hardware. filer Legion Units Observe Anniversary FILER, March 27 Thirty-five people attended the Legion and auxiliary anniversary party at the high school gymnasium last Monday evening, given to celebrate the twen ty-second birthday of the American Legion organization. Awards were given to the three winners of essays on Americanism, and essays were read by the winners. First prize was awarded to Clarence Showers, second prize to Marie Reichert and Beatrice Thomas received third award. Mrs.

Karleen Davis presented the Thespian club hi a play entitled "Coming Round the Mountain." Fol lowing the program, a decorated birthday cake was cut and served. During the evening, pinochle was played with high score prizes going to Mrs. Earl Moreland and Henry Jasper and Mr. Moreland and Don Spencer won door prizes. Friendship Sewinq Club Of Hansen Names Staff HANSEN, March 27 Mrs.

Mable Arment was elected president of the Friendship Sewing club at the all day meeting held last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Carr Wiseman of Jerome, former member. Mrs. Mildred Mushlltz was named vice-president, and Mrs. Ralph Sim mons.

Doering, superin-tendent. State Representative Addresses GOP Women GOODING, March 27 Gi ding County Women's Republican club met Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. H. D. Jackson in Wendell.

There were thirty present, with nine from Gooding. Mrs. Philip Kennicott, of Hagerman, presided at the business session. Mrs. Jackson, program chairman, opened the program with the pledge of allegiance to the flag led by Mrs.

Hazel McCoy of Gooding, followed by group singing of "God Bless America," with Mrs. Jackson at the piano. Roll call was answered with current events. Mrs. Jackson introduced Dr.

S. W. Ritchie, state representative, who talked on legislative action of the last session; he also explained the Gooding hospital bill. Dr. Ritchie answered questions concerning methods of carrying on the business in the legislature.

Dr. Ritchie also said that when the balance of the 1940 taxes are paid the "so-called deficit" will be cleared and there will be a balance in the treasury for the last term. Hostesses were Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. pell, all of Wendell.

The next meeting will be held in Gooding the fourth Monday in April. Seventieth Anniversary Feted by Gooding Group GOODING, March 27 Baptist auxiliary members met at the church last Wednesday for a mis- sionary program commemorating the seventieth anniversary of the founding of the Foreign Missionary -society of the Baptist church. Program arrangements were In charge of Mrs. Leslie Chehey. A missionary hymn was sung by the group, followed by brief talks By Mrs.

Earl Smith and Mrs. Lloyd Snively, outlining the seventy years of activities of the organization. Feature of the program was a candle lighting service in observance of the nniversary. Devotions were led by Mrs. Lyle LeRette.

Con- dit of Hagerman, and John Don-: ahue of Santa Ynez, were" married In Reno, March 21, and came here last Saturday to' spend a week vesiting relatives and friends. They plan to return Friday to Santa Ynez, where Mr. Donahue is employed on a cattle ranch, and where they will make their home. Mrs. Donahue was a member or the Hagerman class of 1938 and has been attending school at Santa Barbara college.

Businessmen Vote Club Project Aid JEROME, March 27 In partnership with 4-H club boys, fourteen business and professional men of this community will enter the hog raising business, as a result of decision readied by the Chamber of Commerce at a recent meeting. Af- ter hearing discussions of the proposed program by W. E. Jellison, Chamber of Commerce representative on the 4-H club council, and by the county extension agent, members of the chamber keen interest in the project. The project will operate by the men advancing funds to purchase feeder pigs, which will be fed by the 4-H club members.

Upon sale of the fat hogs, the sponsor will receive his original investment while the boy will receive the feed costs. thing over these two items will be divided equally between the boy feeding the pigs and the 4-H club council. Funds going to the council will be used for leaders' expenses, judging team trips to livestock shows, entries in district contests and other miscellaneous expenses.
