i 41 iiirrnroT LOCAL INTEREST Again rain interferes with the Sunset League schedule. Providing that it doesn't rain too much today and nothing else occurs to mar the'tran- quility of this old town, the P. A. C. will play the Atlantic Dye at the play' grounds tonight.

The weather the first of the week has just juggled the games so that the first is last and the last is first. The DeMolay will play the Y. Service tomorrow night and the Savannah Friday night. The name of "Jerry Lyons" at one time one of. the best pitchers in Portg- mouth, will be seen on the program the Old Timers same her C.

It is a long time now since "Jerry" lias played baseball regularly but he has always been greatly inter- ested in the game and has done a lot to keep Portsmouth on the baseball map. He is one of the charter mem- bers of the Sunset League association and has always been an ardent work-- er for the success of the league. One could count the number of games he has missed since the league was in- slitiited, on his fingers. The matchmaker of the Belleview A. has tied up'Gunhoat Jack, the col- ored flash for a ten round bout at Freemans' Hall, "September 9.

The other principal in the feature not been secured yet as the matchmaker is looking them over carefully in order to get someone who will give the colored boy the battle of his life. There will also be some fine preliminaries on the card and the semi-final will also be a big drawing card. The fact that Gunboat Jack will be in the main attraction is an assurance to the fight fans that an evening of rare entertainment is in store for them. The rest of the schedule will be announced soon. a constant pla-yer mxd now after thir- ty years 'he la atill playing- "beat of in.

Coach William Cowell returned from a months fishing trip in Maine and looks as though he could get into the'line-up with his boys and wreck everything in front of him.

When the candidates report to Cowell only one former Portsmou.h i player will be among those who will battle for New Hampshire. Harold Piper, one of the flashiest players Portsmouth has produced and who captained the 1920 team at the High School, will report ready for action. He is a veteran of two years campaigning and the best end Cowell has on the squad. The wonderful tackling which made him the favorite with the Portsmouth fans has make him feared and respected by all the men of New Hampshire's opponents other and swap stories and reminis- censes on the "old days."
