Graeff, 78, of 323 Lamparter Road, Quarryville, died Monday at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Thel-m a Reese Graeff.

Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Willis and Mabel Griffith Graeff. He worked for 34 years for Kerr Glass in Lancaster. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He enjoyed hunting.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Robert T. of Wrig-htsville and Gerald, husband of Julie Graeff of Willow Street; three daughters, Lorraine, wife of Thomas Long of Strasburg, Yvonne Bowers of Lancaster and Jane, wife of Richard Gingrich of Annville; three stepsons, Rick Stewart of Lancaster, Gregory Coble of North Carolina and James Reese of Elizabethtown; 16 grandchildren; six stepgrand-children; 20 great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild. Jane T. Gschwend, 77, of Lancaster, died of natural causes Tuesday at the Essa Flory Hospice Center. Her husband, Paul Gschwend II, died in 1980.

Mrs. Gschwend served on the Longs Park Commission for 30 years and on the Board of the Friends of the Lancaster Coun- Jane Gschwend ty Library for 25 years, serving as president. She volunteered in every library book sale until 1996. She was a president of the Lancaster YWCA board and the Lancaster chapter of the American Association of University Women. A secretary and member of the Parents Council at Lancaster Country Day School, she also served as a member of the Council of the Lancaster County Office of Aging, the Community Chest board and the committee that established the Volunteer Center.

Mrs. Gschwend traveled extensively in Great Britain. She enjoyed reading, cooking and crossword puzzles. She was a 1968 champion of the Jeopardy television game show. She was a graduate of Albright College of Reading and Mount Marie Academy of Canton, Ohio.

She did graduate study at Western Reserve University of Cleveland. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late James LeRoy and Rebecca Arnold Treat. Surviving are a son, Dr. Paul III, husband of Dorothy of Lancaster, and two granddaughters. James Edmiston 79, lived in Lititz Pauline Polly S. Beck, 95, of Calvary Fellowship Homes, Lancaster, and formerly of 81 S. Hazel Manheim, died Monday evening at the home after a brief illness. She had been a resident there for 25 years. She was the wife of Paul B.

Beck, who died in 1972. She helped her husband manage the former Beck Funeral Home in Manheim, which is now the Buch Funeral Home. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Lottie Schaberg. She was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster. Before that she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Manheim.

A graduate of Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing, she served as a RedCross volunteer at Lancaster General Hospital. At age 65 she took up oil painting. Surviving are a son, the Rev. William husband of Ruth Snyder Beck of Leesburg, a daughter, Gloria A. Bertram, wife of Howard G.

Groff of Lancaster; 14 grandchildren; 40 greatgrandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert S. Beck, in 1971. James Edmiston 79, of 37 Conrad Lane, Lititz, died at home this morning after an illness of several months. He and his wife, Pearl Fletcher Edmiston, were married 49 years in November.

A retired construction worker, Edmiston worked for a number of construction companies in the Lancaster area. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army. Born in Curwensville, he was the son of the late James Sr. and Minnie Smith Edmiston.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Jeff of Lancaster; a granddaughter; a sister, Evelyn, wife of Michael James Edmiston Timko of Cur-wensville; and a brother, Robert of Tucson, Ariz. William Duncan died in plane crash William H. Duncan 46. of 221 Elk Road, Page, formerly of Lancaster County, died Wednesday in a plane crash near Montrose, Colo. He and his wife, Miriam Stoltzfus Duncan, were married 23 years in December.

From June 1996 until his death, Duncan was general manager of the Federal Bureau of Reclamations Glen Canyon Dam hydroelectric plant in Page. From 1975 to 1996, he was a specialized mechanical engineer in the bureaus Denver office, where he was the leading technical expert and team leader in the operation and maintenance of hydroelectric turbines, pumps and related equipment. He serviced 56 hydroelectric power plants in the western United States and was the author or coauthor of a number of bureau publications. An outdoorsman, Duncan enjoyed outdoor photography, fishing, boating, camping, skiing, hiking and scuba diving. He also enjoyed music and traveling in this country, Mexico and Canada.

When he resided here, he had been a member of the former Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church, Millersville. He was a member and vice chairman of a Colorado task code committee on hydroelectric research. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Dr. William and Alma Pike Duncan, Lancaster. Surviving, besides his wife and parents, are two sisters, Leni, wife of Peter Kerekgyarto of Lancaster, and Vicky, wife of Thomas Dippold of Danville.

Dallas Rathbone, N. Carolina native Dallas C. Rathbone, 91, of 211 Willow Valley Square, died Monday at the Glen at Willow Valley after a brief illness. He was the husband of Thelma Hargleroad Rathbone, who died in 1948, and Jeannette E. Maines Rathbone, who died in 1986.

A graduate of North Carolina State University, he was an executive in the personnel department for Bell Telephone Philadelphia office, retiring in 1971 after 43 years. He began his career as an accountant in the Harrisburg area. Born in Lake Junaluska, N.C., he was the son of the late Samuel D. and Nancy Jane Rathbone. He was a Methodist.

An avid golfer, he was a member of the Maggie Valley Country Club in North Carolina. He was also a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy F. Faust of Lancaster; two granddaughters; and four sisters, Flora Ballinger of Waynesville, N.C., Georgia Liner of Asheville, N.C., and Anne Moody and Mary Williams, both of Lake Junaluska, N.C. Frances A.

Longley, 90, was beautician Eugene L. Rowe, 61, East Petersburg Frances A. Longley, 90, of Granite Farms, Wawa, died Monday at Granite Farms Medical Center of natural causes. She was the wife of the late Paul Longley. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of John C.

and Elizabeth Geanse Kiehl. She lived in Hav-ertown for more than 40 years before moving to Wawa 11 years ago. She attended Lancaster public schools and graduated from the Wilfred Academy as a beautician. She was the owner of the Llanerch Beauty Salon, Havertown, until she retired in 1976. A member of St.

Pauls Lutheran Church in Lionville for the last eight years, she had previously been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Havertown, for more than 40 years, where she had been in the choir, womens organization and senior citizens group. She was a member for 55 years of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron from 1959-1960 in Friendship Chapter No. 551, and also belonged ta Allah Temple No. 28, Daughters of the Nile, for 26 years. Mrs.

Longley enjoyed crafts and needlework and had received awards for her unique French flower beading arrangements. In Lancaster, she was known for her vocal talents, having sung at weddings and other special occasions. Surviving are one daughter, Joanne Reber of Exton; two stepsons, Norman Longley of Sunnyvale, and David Longley of Friday Harbor, and four grandchildren. He was a member of the East Petersburg Fire Company and a member and past president of the East Petersburg Rotary. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and painting with watercolors and oils.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Pamela wife of Jeffrey T. Sherts of East Petersburg, and Jill wife of Gregory A. Hughes of Lititz; four grandsons; two sisters, Joan wife of Gerald Shaeffer of Wer-nersville, and Beverly wife of C. Ian Dodd of Seattle; and a brother, Barrett husband of Sally K. Rowe of Peoria, Ariz.

Eugene L. Rowe, 61, of 5975 Geneva Drive, East Petersburg, died unexpectedly at home Monday of natural causes. He had been under the care of a physician. He was the husband of Shirley A. Woodyard Rowe, at home.

They were married for 4 1 years in April. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Herbert S. and Fanny M. Witmer Rowe. He belonged to Lancaster Church of the Brethren, where he served as past chairman of the Worship Commission, a board member, deacon and member of the Climbers Fellowship Group.

Thomas J. Mazukewicz. 60, of 779 Barrholly Drive, died Monday at the Brethren Village Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Veronica Radaszewski of Lancaster and the late John J. Mazukewicz.

A graduate of Temple University School of Pharmacy in 1959, he belonged to the American Pharmaceutical Association, the Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical send out a powerful message to those passing by. Allen Martin of Landis Homes and Lester Martin of Elizabethtown; and two sisters, Edith Weaver of Landis Homes and Grace, wife of Marvin Good of Garden Spot Village, New Emma N. Landis, 85. of 1001 E. Oregon Road. Lititz, formerly of Kissel Hill and Oregon roads.

Lititz, died Tuesday at Landis Homes after a brief illness. She was the wife of John M. Landis. They marked their 60th anniversary in January. Born in East Earl Township, she was the daughter of the late Harry H.

and Emma Nolt Martin. A homemaker, she was a member of Landis Valley Mennonite Church and the church's sewing circle. Surviving besides her husband are two sons. Glenn, husband of Connie Landis of Jonestown, and John husband of Karen Landis of Newmanstown: two daughters. Joyce, wife of Wilmer Hostetter of Oxford, and Doris, wife of Donald Herr of Quarryville.
