SLAP KLANSMEN AT BALLOT BOX Declaring that "the people of Oklahoma arc bigger than the invisible empire of Oklahoma," Judge M. M. Alexander of Ok- mulcee, state chairman of the anti-klan organization; Wednesday night told a crowd that packed Judge E. R. McNeill's courtroom, to get out November 4 and vote "against every kluxer 1 no matter what tickethe is running on." "The man who is dallying with the Ku Klux Klan is a soul insane," he declared.

"The time Has come to make the fight Against this invisible empire and retake the American republic. Forget political parties and re' dedicate your lives to the principles upon which this government was founded." To Hit Both Parties Judge Alexander said that the fight is going to be waged right down the middle of the road against democratic and republican candidates alike who belong to the klan and he warned his hearers that the newly formed state organization opposing 1 the klan- proposes to keep'the klan issue to the front every day until November 4. Introduced by S. of this city, Judge Alexander at tirice launched into a discussion of the klan issue. After calling oh the people to rededicate themselves to the principles upon which the government 'is founded 'the' speaker declared that the klah "was conceived irt forth in iniquity and has since dragged itself across the nation like a slimy snake.

If it is not headed off -how and forever suppressed we will face a reign of bolshevism worse than anything Russia ever saw." Where Is Betterment? Alexander'demanded to know the klan had done to better conditions in politics, among neighbors, in the community, to hiake'friendships stronger; or to help the church and he answered his own question in the negative. He said this nation has heretofore been a government of parties but that the klan controls both political parties so that neither can function. "A klansnum cannot and does not tell the truth about anything in which there is a controversy Alexander and he demanded that those who are "loyalto the government get out now and do battle with the klan. The curse of the klah is on the judiciary." He declared that the republicans have, nominated more ariti-klan men for the state supreme court than the democrats and he advised that the votersparticularly oppose any klansman who is a candidate for.the supreme court bench. Explaining that the anti-klan association is ahder said that the association is for Walton for United States senator and for Petd publican candidate for 'congress in the second district.

"There is no need," declared Alexander, "for a kluxer on the supreme court bench or on the corporation commission," and he charged that Fred Capshaw, democratic candidate for corporation commissioner, tried to et the anti organization to back im if he would declare against the klan. Alexander said that "a cyclops is chairman of the Democratic State Speakers bureau," added, can you imagine him assigning out speakers to try and put over Jack Walton in November?" He the workings of the anti association and the Oklahoma City meeting.say- ing that it is purely an organization to; function for the sole urpose of defeating klux can, idates for office and thus forever settling the issue in this slate. "You are not called upon to do anything but your Christian duty to the stars and said he. "Get behind jtlie Christian -philosophy and constitutional government. The klan preaches the doctrine of hate and has the nerve to preach 4t in the name of the stars and 'stripes." Prior to Alexander Js talk John A.

Oliphant and A. Nicodemiis made brief talks. Oliphant told of the klan afterthe' civil and urggqHhat it be'burie'd forever if this state and nation to have peace and comfort. Nicodemus said, that Vany-secret ''Order that cannot the benefit of-the community whereit.is which tries to control polit- 'ical organizations is a traitor to the nation and the govern ment." He said that "Tulsa is proud of a great daily newspa per here that is edited by a courageous and brilliant writer is putting forth his efforts to destroy this evil." -Lewis Asks Donations After Alexander's talk Lewis made a brief plea for voluntary donations to help defray the expenses of the meeting and announced a pertn'anent finance committee for the Tulsa county branch of the state anti-klan organization. This committee he named consists of Henry McGraw, chairman; B.

E. Berer ,0. A. Steirtcr, Walkley and Frank Ingraham. Before closing the meeting who was named at Iahoma City as Tulsa county of the state anti organization, called on Judge French of Collinsvillc, head of, the anti-klan organization there and Ed.

Grassland of this city, president of the Walton-for-Seu- ator club. Both denounced the klan.in no uncertain language. LIVER MtOICINE I FACTS FACTS Oklahoma The democratic party of Oklahoma has no quarrel with any institution, society or anything else which pretends to be favorable to constitutional government, and for that reason has never seen fit ttf reply to attacks made by those who represent ideas.

It was indeed unfortunate that a reputable newspa per of tKis state took up claim of a periodical Known as the "Fiery Cross," in which it stated that J. C. Walton, demo craic nomiee for United States senator, -had made a Very gravA attack upon ninety-five percent of the Protestant ministers of our state. As a matter of fact Mr. Wal ton has discussed ithis subject from almost every platform in the counties of the state.

He uotcd a statement from the iery Cross (a periodical which seemingly has no ntt itpr, no standing, other than the foolish gibberish pf Clay Jewett, who at this time appears to be in a tremendous argument with himself'whether or not he is even, a gentletflafn) 17 arid Mr. was perhaps misunderstood few people who did not know he quoting from the periodical above named; The speech htis faeep' so 6f tin delivered that- the mere- fatft of: a few dozen who have signed an affidavit is of little consequence. Ip charity, which is a great thing, it is presumed that they overlooked the quotation of the i In sacred truth to all men and women, any church, any faith and all things respecting God ahd the Redeemer are sacred ahd respected by all people who believe in the message of the Messiah. It is indeed unfortunate that a few the ministry have attempted tp introduce the Ku Klux Klan as articles of Christian faith. Displeasure' has those benighted miriinsters have mistaken a 'fantasy for the faith for which all of us have great reverence.

Mr. Walton was speaking in the primary race, and to the besit of his ability, was answering charges which no. respectable publication would have printed. What he said is what he is saying no minister right to introduce partisan into the teachings of 'Jesus Christ, but.he praises all ministers who seek to render service to good people. We take it for granted that people who desire to be fair will agree with us that Mr.

Walton, or any other (candidate for a prominent position has a right to speak on any question that is of a governmental nature. He is at this time an exponent of the democratic national plat- form.speaking for the icticket, and is top highminded to take time to respond to petty personalities. 'It unfortunate that the republican state committee, having an unknown and uninforfned i i candidate against Mr. Walton, should indulge in the distribution such ifoolish and wholly unreliable literature; but it is perhaps due td the fact that having 1 nothing to dissem- minate, it used the childish tactics of seeking to tear down something when they had nothing with which to build up. Walton is the democratic nominee for United States senator; running on the demoi cratic platform elected he will uphold democratic principles; if defeated we will have some kind of a republican who.

will vote for every irepublican idea propaguted by republicans and for republican good. II is somewhat out of the ordinary in a political campaign to quote from; a newspaper of opposite political faith. However, the Tulsa World, independent republican, so fully covers' the assertions' made against Mr. Walton on this issue, that we cannot refrain publishing the same. 0f course we are not of tbo same mind as the very brilliant editor of the-, Tulsa World and some of the things he says cannot be in accordance with our but be unfair to publish excerpts from hi? brilliant article; and therei fore we reproduce it as showing haw, people pf fair toward those, who arc something for is npt anyjfoundii- v'f The World article, which appealed as editorial and all, is reproduced in full as "follows; "An Absurd Proposition; "Our idea of utter absuridity is the esteemed Oklahoman 's "feature" which consists of an effort on the part of that paper to force Jack Walton to give $500 to charity.

"The matter turns, on whether or not Waltbn said on sbnie occasion that "95 per cent of the Protestant.ministers of Oklahoma arc lower than' skunks." Did he Say it-or did he not say it? The t)klahoman, which makes pretense of opposing the klan, says he did, and true to its erraticism in fighting Walton and continuing to kick him up hill, has gathered a large list of affidavits which it hop6s prove that he did and thus make him contribute some $500 to some The ministers involved ought to think twice before inviting a test of popular confidence between themselves and; Walton! "Up toidthe present moment the Okkdioman has succeeded in making itself the laughing stock of the state. In the firSjt few iolks have aay great respect forthepplitical acumen the Oklahowah: to the klan, it best political asset. For years it has been a victim of the est'attack of Waltoh which there is any record anywhere. "The Oklahoman been fighting a single individual from a largely personal standpoint withbut at any time possessing the courage or the sincerity to support someone 3 'eafs, now the policy Ok- lahonian has een to fight Walton. Well enough in its way, too! Btit it lias never stood FOR anybody who was seeking to defeat Walton! "It pretense now of being opposed to klan domination, it fSeeks by' every means ih its pb'wer to bring about the defeat of the only man who stands and has stood squarely against the klan.

Naturally, this sort of "policy" excites the ribald remarks of all onlookers. "Anyway''the matter goes, the Oklahoman is loser. It remains where, it standing, without principle, without anything more than a commercial spirit confroling its political activities. To make pretense pf opposing klan the two parties in Oklahoma, and still fight Walton as the Oklaltoman does, is to confess to something that ho honorable man would want to confess to. to the Oklahoman's statement, "the people: at the gjjass roots" are not disturbed at Walton's purported attacks on the ministers.

The conduct of many ministers with reference to the invisible empire and political matters in general, has been such that the people at the grass roots are not particularly concerned in what anybody says about them. "Suppose a- handful of-'interested aflldavits 4 haveo been seemingly- proving WiSlton said What he is accused saying, then what? Would soch 'evidence" be acceptable in any" a klan-con- tfplled'cP'urt? Is it not a mortal that Walton could get twice as'many from the various communities swearing that he said hig of the kind? What is the Oklahoman 's purpose, anyway Does it really seek to use its influence ih a way that will give Walton Upward of a hundred thousand majority? Or is it really playing the klaii game Democratic Publicity TO THE FARMERS are in the market for dry and will pay Top Market Price. See us before you sell. C. Worley, at Gin.
