FREDONIA ARTILLERY CORPORAL EN ROUTE HOME FROM EUROPE Cpl. Russell Clvllette 14 Link street, Fredonia, whose wife resides In Silver Creek, is en route homo from Europe, announces the Public Relations office of the 8th Infantry division.

This division, known as the Coldtm Arrow, Is credited with, accounting for 21 times its own weight in Gormans-by 187 prisoners during ten months of combat. The division" was in the Normandy breakthrough, the capture of Brest and the bitter fight in the Hitrtgren forest. Troops, of the 8th were the CifsL to cross the Rocc, launching the drive that reached the Rhino. The division then cut the Ruhr pocket in two and finished its ETO fighting by crossing the Elbe and Unking with the Russians. Corporal Clvilette entered the army March 21, 1941 and served overseas for 10 months in Nor mnmly, Northern France, the Rliineland and central Europe.

He WHS attached to A Battery, 43rd Field artillery Bn. Before entering the army, he was employed at the Allegheny Ludlum stuel plant. He has four battle stars and 87 points. BUFFALO. FREDONIA BAPTIST CHURCH YEAR BOOK HAS BEEN ISSUED A "y.jar. Book" describing many of the activities of the Fredonia Baptist church has been published by the: pastor, Rev. Alton G. Snyder. The booklet contains 32 mimeojiraphed pages of information and reference.

The Fredonia Baptist church was organized 137 years ago. In front of the "Year Book" is a list of all the ministers who have served the church from the time of its organization. Other features of the booklet include the church directory listing all the officers of the church and church organizations, the minutes of the last annual meeting with the financial reports for the past year, and a summary of the activities of the many organizations within church The resident membership of the church with 340 names is also included. Copies of this "year book" wil be available for the members and friends of the church Sunday at the morning service. New York, July 7--(UP)--The newspaper deliverymen's strike rounded out its first week today with indications, despite increased pressure from the labor board, that New Yorkers would again- be without, their Sunday papers unless they went to newspaper offices to buy them.

The newspaper and mail deliveries union planned to meet tomorrow to discuss the strike against 14 major.papers. The WLB threatened the union with cancellation, of Its closed shop contract provisions unless the strike was ended at once, and criticized deliverymen for ignoring previous back to orders. The WLB belittled the independent union's advancement ot a mass meeting of its 1,700 members from Monday to tomorrow as not "sufficiently expeditious or forthright." Joseph Simon, union president said the meeting had been movec up in answer to a WLB order thai the union make a decisive step toward ending the strike which began last. Saturday. Unless there was a quick end to the strike, the WLB said, other benefits, including'retroactive provisions, would be denied strikers.
