He -'s was 74. Marcinca-vage had served as pastor of St. Anthonys Church in Lancaster from 1963 to 1967. He had also been assistant pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Lancaster from 1938 to 1940. Marcincavage, a native of Ranshaw, attended St.

Charles Seminary in Philadelphia and was ordained by Bishop Goerge L. Leech in 1938 in St. Patrick Cathedral. Harrisburg. He also had been assistant pastor and pastor of St.

Casimir, Kulpmont, and pastor of St. Francis Xavier. Gettysburg. He retired as pastor emeritus of St. Francis Xavier in 1978.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Philip Haile of Elysburg, and a brother, Stanley, of Ranshaw. Melvin Summers, 55, Of Salunga Dies Melvin Summers, 55, 155 N. Broad Salunga, died at home Friday afternoon following a lengthy illness. He was employed at AMP A resident of Salunga for 24 years, he was the husband of Car-lene Murray Summers.

He served in the Pacific with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Chiques United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, American Legion Post 185 in Mount Joy and the Salunga Fire Company. Born in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Nelson A. and Mildred Trout Summers.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a brother, Kenneth Summers, Darby. Marian Foster, 76, Ex-Teacher, Dies Marian E. Foster. 78. a former teacher, died at 5:10 a.m. today at her 815 Olde Hickory Road home.

She was ill several weeks. She taught for 15 years at Bur roues Ele-mentary School when it was part of the former Lancaster Township School District. She was the wife of George D. Foster, who died in December, 1973. Bom in Butler, she was a daughter of the late William and Anna Breidenstein Tawzer.

She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and the churchs Circle of Kings Daughters. She was a member of the Iris Club and was also a lifetime member of the Donegal Witness Tree Church. She was a graduate of Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio. Surviving are a son, G. David Foster, Schenectady, N.Y.; a daughter, Ellen E.

Foster, Coming, N.Y.; one grandson; a brother, William Tawzer, Lancaster, and a sister, Jean M. Pospisil, Orlando, Fla. Gertrude Kaufhold Of Columbia Dies Gertrude V. Kaufhold, 95, 611 Union Columbia, died Friday morning at the Hamilton Arms Nursing Rehabilitation Center. She retired after 33 years as a cook with Bills Restaurant, Columbia.

Born in West Hempfield Township, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Hammond Haines. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary. Surviving are two daughters: Margie Morrison, with whom she resided, and Edna, wife of Lloyd Brodbeck, Wrightsville; a son, Paul Kauffman, Columbia; a sister, Mae Ruby, Columbia; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren. Christ Stoltzfus, 85, Retired Farmer, Dies A Christ G. Stoltzfus, 85, of Gap R2, a retired farmer, died unexpectedly Friday at his home.

He had been under the care of a physician. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Stoltzfus Stoltzfus. Bom in Salisbury Township, he was a son of the late Ezra and Leah Lantz Stoltzfus. He was a member of the Mill-wood Mennonite Church, Gap Rl. He is survived by three daughters: Dorcas wife of Ted Morrow, Philadelphia, Anna Mary, wife of Leonard Groff, Gap R2, and Ruth Esther Stoltzfus, Hamburg; two sons, Paul El-kart, and Nathan Gap R2; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one Antiques Expert Joel Safer, Author, Dies A.

Joel Sater 64, an author, publisher and lecturer in the field of antiques, died Friday 1 morning at his home at 225 W. Market Marietta. He founded 1 5 tw0 specialty newspapers. The Antiques and Auction News and The Paper and Advertising Collector, both of which are still published. He also was a quilt collector historian, writing the book The American Patchwork Quilt, and he taught courses on antiques and collecting at Franklin and Marshall College.

He owned and operated Sater's Children Store in Columbia in the late 1940s and early 1950s, and he founded and operated the Columbia Sign Equipment Co. He began writing about antiques in the 1950s, and in the 1960s and 1970s he published several yearly regional guides to antiques. In 1977 he earned a masters degree in American studies from Penn State University. He was a 1942 University of Iowa graduate. He was an avid furniture and antique paper restorer.

He naa served on the Columbia School Board and the executive board of the Young Democrats of Lancaster County. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific. He had been listed in Whos Who in America. Born in Birmingham, he was a son of Edith Lipsitz Sater, Santa Rosa, and the late Alex Joel Sater.

He had lived in Lancaster County since 1948. He was the husbahd of Denise Murphy Sater. They celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary Dec. 5. Besides his wife and mother, he Is survived by two sons, Alex Joel III, Baltimore, and R.

Phillip, Ephrata; a daughter, Lisa, wife of Joseph C. Maden-spacher, Lancaster; three granddaughters, and a brother, Rex Howard, Santa Rosa, Calif. James N. Pennell, 73, Ex-Deliveryman, Dies James N. Pennell, 73, 116 W.

Main Mount Joy, died this morning in the emergency room of St. Josephs Hospital. He had been in ill health for some time. He was the husband of Dorothy C. Doersom Pennell.

He was a deliveryman for Kunkle Oil Co. of Mount Joy for 25 years. He last worked as a security officer for Burns Security. Pennell served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.

He was a member of the Mount Joy Friendship Fire Co. for more than 50 years, and was a coach of the midget baseball team in Mount Joy in the 1950s. An avid golfer, he was a member of Overlook Golf Course, 2040 Lititz Pike. He was born in Mount Joy, a son of James Darwin and Florence Brandt Pennell. He is survived by three sons: James Slippery Rock, Ronald Chandler, and William at home; four grandchildren; two sisters: Hazel Clement and Florence Pennell, both of Mount Joy; and two brothers: Bruce of Mount Joy and Charles of Lancaster.

MOON Last Quarter Jan. 3 Mary Englert Howell, 62, a former stenographer in Lancaster and co-proprietor of cottages in Florida, died unexpectedly of natural causes Saturday at a hospital in Flagler Beach, Fla.

A resident of Flagler Beach and formerly of Lancaster and St. Louis, she was the wife of Richard Howell. A graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, Mrs. Howell worked as a stenographer for Shirks Motor Express, now Yellow Freight System and for Armstrong World Industries Inc. She and her husband owned and operated Sand Key Cottages in Indian River Shores, tor about 10 years.

She was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Emma Kirchner Englert. Surviving besides her husband are three daughters: Kathy, wife of Gerald Fuszner, Freeport, Chris, wife of Ray Quimby, Tunkhannock: and Fran, wife of Tony Belpulsi, Barnhart, seven grandchildren; three sisters: Josephine Meiss; Annette, wife of William L.
