Vv I Avt ui Bail was set at $625 each and another hearing was set for June 15. The group had just returned from a tour of Sweden and Denmark. After hes dead is not the best time to think of something nice you could have done for a 'fellow. N' i fTI The three were accused of a conspiracy to utter forged post cards.

The charges were connected with a television show called Opportunity Knocks, a talent contest based on postal votes. 'Zardoz PHILADELPHIA (AP) The days of television censorship are gone now the industry relies on quality control. Two psychiatrists at Temple University here monitor scripts and tapes submitted by the American Broadcasting Co. (ABC) network. Their main interest is sex and violence.

They view their job as determining how much and what kind of sexuality and violence is acceptable. Drs. Melvin S. Heller and Samuel Polsky say they view thousands of feet of film and read dozens of scripts in deciding just what the American public is willing to watch in their living rooms. BBC SCANDAL WICKLOW HILLS, Ireland Production has begun here producer-director John Boormans 20th Century-Fox release, Zardoz, a futuristic suspense-adventure story.

Polsky added that television follows changes in societys attitudes; it doesnt lead. Were not involved in a number game, said Dr. Heller. Were not sitting there counting the number of people murdered or the number of violent incidents. Warrants for their arrest went out last month, at the same time a record-plugging scandal broke in the state-run British Broadcasting Corp.

Pop personalities, including singer Dorothy Squires, were charged with bribery and corruption in that scandal. Onetime singer and night club hostess Janie Jones was also arrested and charged with, among other things, procuring prostitutes for BBC officials. Mel Collins, agent for the New World, said today the fraud charges against his pop group have nothing to do with the BBC scandal. The group has been linked with the BBC payola trouble but the charge shows they have nothing to do with bribery and corruption or prostitution. The publicity linking them to this scandal has done them a great deal of harm, he said.

New World has had seven records in the British top 20, including Rose Garden, Tom Turnaround and Cara Cara. They appeared on Opportunity Knocks starting in 1969. The program is aired on independent television, not tbe BBC. A free-lance television director also appeared today in Bow Street Magistrates Court to answer charges stemming from the BBC payola scandal. The director, Stephen Clive Turner, 35, was charged with accepting a bribe of $62.50 and the services of a prostitute in return for playing a record on a BBC program, Disco 2.
