Study Shows Black Baseball Players Better than Whites PITTSBURGH (AP) A study shows that even though blacks are better overall baseball players they have a harder time breaking into the major leagues. Although few black Americans and virtually no black Latin Americans receive more than a $20,000 bonus for signing their first contract, the study shows there is little salary difference between black and white superstars. "Bui I'd be careful not to hang baseball," said Dr. Leonard Rapping, an economics professor at Carnegie-Mellon University. think the improvement has been tremendous." (AP) Officials of District 1 of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association have banned all spectators from next Saturday's district track and field championships because of trouble at other recent meets. Site of the meet also was shifted from Roosevelt Field here to the Pennsfoury High School track at Fairless Hills. W. B. The team of Tony Sandier and Ralph Young is an attractive one, their singing is excellent and their taste good. They also try for some comedy touches and although these sequences were the rough spots in the hour, they should be smoothed out before many of their dozen programs are finished. Judy Came, the gamine of "Laugh-In," is a regular on the summer shows.

But you always point for the big four." Nicklaus is one of four men to sweep all of pro golf's major U.S. and British Opens, the Masters and PGA. He usually considers it a bad year when he doesn't win one of them. He missed last year and, for a man who has won about all that can be won, is hungry for another. "You never have any trouble getting up for those," he said.

The burly Nicklaus recently has had trouble with his game. He had an 80 in the Tournament of Champions last month and failed to make the out two weeks ago in the Greater New Orleans Open. But, he said, that's behind him. He took a rest last week, and it helped. "I didn't play much," he said.

"Just rested. I wasn't playing well for a while, waen't driving well. But the time off seemed to help some. I'm hitting the ball i pretty good, now. Things seem to be pulling together." i He shrugged off the effects of an elbow injured in an accident.

The President stood behind a lectern bearing the great seal of the President of the United States. He read his carefully prepared remarks. His mood and mien were serious.

His presentation was business-like. He used neither lectern nor notes at his news conferences and appeared more relaxed. The President's address occupied most of a half hour, caus ing both OBS and NBC to cancel scheduled reruns of hour-long action films. As is their custom in such situations, both networks filled the rest of the hour with discussion and analysis by their staff men. ABC interrupted a feature film rerun, "The Great Sioux Massacre" for the President's speech, then simply picked up in the movie where it had left off.
