THE TIMES. RECORD, WEDNESDAY EVENING, APRIL 15, 1944 Junior League Hears Regional Director, Elects The 37th annual dinner ing of the Junior- League of Troy took place last evening at Thornie's Cafe RuVal. Mrs. J. Paul Ryan was elected vice president, succeeding Mrs.

Robert W. Freihofer. Mrs. Hugh E. Smith will continue 4 president, Mrs.

F. Richard Decatur as secretary and Mrs. Robert L. Krause as treasurer. At the same time 10 commitlee chairmen were elected to the board of directors for oneyear terms.

They are: missions. Mrs. Douglas D. field; education, Mrs, William F. Payne; hospitality, Mrs.

Richard Robison; placement, Mrs. Harry E. Bicklord. project planning, Mrs. William M.

McCarty; publications, Mrs. Thomas D. Pemrick; publicity, Mrs, T. Peter Plumb; provisional; Mrs. Robert W.

kett; wAys and means, Mrs. Edward W. Pattison, and taining representative, Mrs. Paul R. Jones Jr.

The slate was presented by Mrs. Robert P. Kahn. A brief business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Smith with the budget for year presented by Mrs.

Krause. A highlight of the evening was the presentation by Mrs. Smith of "Volunteer of the Year" award. Mrs. John E.

Davis. The award is a silver bowl presented by the league's sustaining members. Mrs. Smith welcomed into league membership the young women who have successfully completed the provisional course under the direction of Mrs, McCarty. Guest speaker for the evening was Mrs.

James H. Greene of Syracuse, director of Region HI of the Assn. of the Junior Leagues of America. Mrs. Greene discussed the importance of the league program of voluntecr service in the community.

She urged her listeners to appraise the true quality of their service, and this done, 10 pursue their projects and enjoy them, She also advised them to have the courage to be creative and to search for more than what lies on the surface. "Volunteer service," she told not cheap labor; it is gift of skill, time, energy and love." Miss Students To Have Spring Dances Two spring dances will take place this week at St. Agnes School. A dance for the seventh and eight grades will be held Friday from 7:45 to 10 p.m. A dance for grades nine through twelve will take place Saturday from 8:45 to 11:45 p.m.

The dances are sponsored by the Mothers' League. Mrs. Wil. liam Laufer is dance chairman. Assisting her with the junior high school dance is Mrs.

David 5. Williams, cochairman. Mrs. William Garlick is refreshments chairman. Chaperones will be John E.

Holt-Harris Jr. and Mrs. Holt-Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Quelim alt Mr.

and Mrs. Witlianis and Mrs. John N. Vandemoer, the head. mistress.

Assisting Mrs. Laufer with the high school dance are Mrs. Harold Page Evans, cochairman; Mrs. Richard Waller, refreshments; Mrs. Richard S.

Mack and Mrs. Alex Perle; tables; Mrs. Raymond Finnan and Mrs. John A. Howe, decorations.

Mrs. Roger Craig and Mrs. Walter Mueller are also assisting. Chaperones will be Mr. Mrs.

Sidney Albert, Mr. and Mrs. William J. Farrisen, Mrs. Vandemocr and Miss Linder, vice principal.

ANNE NOLIN Miss Nolin Planning May Nuptials Announcement has been made of the engagement of 31. Anne Nolin, daughter of Mrs. Arthur Nolln of 108 First Watervliet, and the late Mr. Nolin, 10 John Alexander Fecura, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Michael Fecura of 163 Beacon Cohoes. The couple will be married May 2. The prospective bride, a graduate of Catholic Central High School, is employed by the Bureau of Highway Planning of the State Department of Public Works. Mr. Fecura attended Cohoes High School and served four years in the Marine Corps.
