8 A For 9 to 5 blues, take a 215. A X38M AI SMEN CHARLES TYNER and IVY BETHUNE are the villains of the "Father Murphy" series. Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC. 'Not A Puppie-Kicker' Says Hated Howard Charles Tyner has never, ever kicked a puppy.

Ivy Bethune wouldn't dream of slamming the door in the face of a cookie-selling girl scout. But both of them look as though they are indeed capable of such acts. Tyner and Bethune appear weekly on NBC-TV's new "Father Murphy" series (Tuesdays, 8-9 p.m.) as the evil, disgusting Howard Rodman and Miss Tuttle, two fo the most powerful villains of this television season. As Rodman and Tuttle the pair are always doing anything they can to force the closing of Merlin Olsen's orphanage so they can take all those smiling kids to a prison-like state workhouse and make money from their labors. "I knew he was perfect for the part," says creator-executive producer Michael Landon, "when he walked into my office and I felt like getting up and punching him in the mouth." "Michael Landon has created a wicked, frightening character here," says Tyner.

"I'm going to be very, very careful around children from now on. If they recognize me as Howard Rodman they'll either stone me or run for cover. I'll never again wear a black suit and string tie unless I'm on stage shooting the show." A native of Danville, Virginia, the quiet, mildmannered actor saw all the violence and hatred he ever wants to see as a combat infantry soldier fighting in France and Germany during World War II. After the war he turned to acting, and has since portrayed hated bad-guys in such films as "Cool Hand Luke," "'The Longest Yard." "I really like children, flowers and says Tyner, whose piercing eyes, sharp nose and thin lips give him the appearance of a man whose looks could force elderly nuns to attack him with a baseball bat. "I also like the role of Howard Rodman the rat!" Ivy Bethune, whose "Miss Tuttle" just begs for a boot in te bustle, is also a show business veteran.

Born in Russia in 1918, she was raised in The Bronx, and was aiming for a career as a serious dancer until the day she stepped into an elevator only to discover there was no car behind the open door, and fell to the bottom of the elevator well, shattering her ankle and ending her dancing career. It's surprisingly easy to do. Because learning to play a Yamaha 215 is so simple. We'll even give you free lessons. Yet, as easy as the 215 is to learn to play, it gives you a lot of musical power and diversity, too.
