Philbrick says she has had him arrested before on the same charge. The track has been greatly improved, liberal purses have been offered and the management has made every possible effort to the meet one of the best ever held in New Hampshire. There are twelve classes of good entries and there is no reason why there should not be a large attendance each day. The contest will be for sciantific points only, with Marquis Quecnsbury rules to govern. The referee will be Jeremiah F. Eeagan of Worcester, and the official who will hold the forfeits will be William LeClair of Boston. One of the conditions in the agree ment is that the gloves shall weigh not less than five ouncss each, and it is also stipulated that the contest shall be for science only, and that both men shall be examined by physicians before stepping into the ring. This match will be one of the sparring events of in this vicinity.

PORTSMOUTH ELECTRIC ROAD. RAIL- It is expected that the cars on the street railway will begin making regular irips on Saturday next. There are now five vestibule cars here which will be put into the service. It is stated that six more cars, of the open pattern, will be delivered by the Laconia Car company to the road here on July 10, and that six more cars, of the combination pattern are now ia the process of construction at the Brill Car company's works in Philadelphia, and that when the cars to Eye be- gia running in the near future a storage battery will be put in at the latter place to store the superfluous electricity. It is an assured fact that the Dover branch will be equipped for electricity soon.

William H. Harriman of Deer street was quite badly burned about the face and hands on Monday afternoon, by the igniting of powder which he was handling. A. Michelson, the ship's writer who bus been laid up at the Naval hospital for some time with a badly injured leg, was discharged from there this morning and left for New York. Sacsuel Dixon of South Eliot, senior member of the firm of Dixon Me Intire of this city, killed two fowl on Friday which when dressed and ready for the market, tipped the scales at twenty pounds.

The Nashua Telegraph publishes a half column story of the McGill-Cotton gambling case and adds that McGi'l is well known in Nashua, having kept a salooa there on Factory street until a short timo ago. Caleb Brunelle, employed at the navy yard, has recently come into possession of a document of great historical value in the shape of an original copy of the plan of the northern boundary line of the province of Massachusetts bay, extending from three miles due north of Pentucket falls in the Merrimack river, and on a course wes. allowing ten degrees variation, until it comes to the Hudson river. The surrey and plan were made in 1741 by Richard Hazen of HaverhilJ, Mass under orders of His Excellency, Jonathan Belcher, governor of the province, and the maker certified to its correctness in a certificate sworn to before Richard Waldron, a justice of the pence. CONCERT AT THE CREEK. The new City band gave a fine concert at the Creek on Monday evening, which was listened to by a big crowd from every part of the city. It was a subseription concert in which the citizens of that part of the town alone con tributed.
