Earl Warren today issued a proclamation asking for celebration in California tomorrow of the 133rd anniversary of Mexican independence. Tokyo Says Japs 'Escaped' Rome Tokyo radio reported today that the Japanese ambassador to Italy and his staff, together with Japanese newspapermen, have established temporary offices in Venice, "after having escaped Rome." (The broadcast, recorded by United Press at San Francisco, did not explain why the Japanese were forced to "escape" from Rome if Germany was in control of the city.) Tokyo said that "pending the establishment of a new government by the new Fascist regime, the embassy staff will remain in Venice."
