In the Senate, wo perceive no proceedings of interest. A Chief Clerk and reading Clerk have been elected, and a petition from Commodore Smith, against the action of the Naval Retiring Board, was received: Cape Fear and Deep River Improvement, A letter was received this morning from Cross Creek, the lowest Lock and Dam, on the Cape Fear River above Fayetteville, showing the condition of the work at that point, The Company have now about ono hundred and thirty hands at work there, and it is confidently expected that the Lock and Dam will be completed by the 15th of January next, Masonic Grand Lodge. Tho annual communication of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of this State was held in Raleigh on Monday last. We learn from a delegate who attended its deliberations, that a very large number of representatives were present from all parts of the State, and that business of an interesting characte to the fraternity was transacted.
