The Boats of the -Rail Road Company, how make four trips per week' from Wilmington to Charleston. There never was, and probably there never will be," said Capt. Moringlon, "so powerful an example of the influence of national confidence and courtesy remaining unimpaired, even during the continuance ot a ferocious engagements as that Which Tdlavera exhibits.

All the morning the battle raged, and the day assault. was' as unsuccessful as the. nig hi attack had proved. Both armies had laihiupou the ground, but none had slept the with his horse's bridle around his arm -the soldier, in momentary expectation of a fresh attempt, listenea in every noise for the enemy's approach. No wondeJ, then, that a sultry day in July found both sides overcome with heat and, by a sort of common consent, long before tioon hostilities' ceased, and the French Jcooked their dinners, while the English- had wine; and bread 'rved but.

Then it was lliat a curious scene ensueu. A small strearq, tributary to the Ta- us, flowed through a partiof the ground, and separated i the comhatants. the pause that the heat of the and the weariness of theitropps During weather produced, both armies went to the banks ol the, rivulet for water. 1 he men approached each other fearlessly, threw down their caps and muskets, chatted to each other like old acquaintances, and exchanged their brandy flasks and wine skins. AH asperity of feeling seemed tor gotten.

To a stranger they would appear more, like an allied -force, than men hot froniL a ferocious conflict, and only gathering strength, and energy to commence it anew. But a still uobJer rivalry for lime existed. The intervaUwas employed in carrying off the wounded, who lay intemixefd upon the hard coutesied field and to the honor of both be it told, each endeavored to extricate common jsuflerers, and to remove their unfortunate friends and enemies without distinction. Suddenly the bugles sounded the -drums beat to arms---many of the rival soldiery shook hands and parted with expressions of mutual esteem, and, in ten minutes after, were again at the bayonet's point." UATTLE. battle of Soldin, between the Russians and the King of Prussia, warmly contested; and after it was over, a clergyman went upon the, ground, and afterwards wrote the following account of what he saw "At one o'clock the cannonading.ceas ed, and 1 went out ou foot to Soldin to learn in -whosei favor the battle -had turned. Toward evening, seven hundred Russian fugitives came to Soldin. It was a pitiful sight some holding up their hands cursing swearing others praying and praising' the King" ot Prussia, without hat or clothes some on foot, others two on a horse, with their, head and arms tied up, some dragging alongby the stirrups, and others by the tails of the horses. the baatle was decidedr and victory shouted for the Prussian army, 1 ventured to the place where the' cannonading had been.

After walking some way, a Cossack's horse came running full speed toward me. I mounted him atid on my wy, for seven in.il es and a half on this side of the. Add of battle. I found the dead and wounded lying on the ground, and sadly cut in pieces. further I advanced the more these poor creatures lay heaped one upon another.
