12-THE SUNDAY NEWS, JUNE 10, 1956 EMIGSVILLE BAND MARKS 'Golden HALF A CENTURY of uninterrupted horn blowing, drum beating and marching will be celebrated this summer in Emigsville when the Emigsville Band observes its golden anniversary of Sousa and Strauss. Eight men started the old Acme Cornet Band 50 years ago, and with 18 charter members began putting Emigsville on the county's musical map. MAN WITH THE STICK is Marlin Ryan who has been directing band for the past year. Ryan is the ninth director of the 50-year- old organization. Horn' Year Now there's only one charter member still playing the rest have retired from active participation, but the result of those early CORNER efforts is 50 years of continuous organization, even though the name was changed some years ago.
