2 8 November 11, 1966 KWCR-FM WSC Radio Serves Ogden KWCR, Weber State's own radio station, was born during last year's Spring Quarter and has been broadcasting programs to residents of the Ogden area since. WSC students operate the entire radio station, except for the maintenance of the equipment. They schedule and direct the programs, direct news, do all of the announc ing of programs and managing of the station. When needed, assistance is given by Earl Sanders, Director of Broadcasting services at Weber State. Mr.

Sanders states that KWCR as two distinct purposes. They are: (1) to provide professional training in radio and television for WSC students, and (2) to serve people of the Ogden area in educational radio programs. It can broadcast from North Ogden to Layton very easily, and on occasion, has been heard as far north as Brigham City. Broadcasting hours are from 6:30 pm until 10 pm on weekdays. The programs run continually without the interruptions of commercial messages. Taped programs come from various sources. Among these are The Standard Oil Co.

of California, other colleges and universities, and the French Embassy in Washington D.C. Many of the events that take place in the WSC Fine Arts Center are rebroadcasted over KWCR. Among those heard sofar this year are "Up With People" and the Drew Pearson lecture. This year the home games of the Freshman basketball team will be taped and rebroadcasted. Permission to broadcast appearances of the Utah Symphony is being sought after, and if granted, the Symphony's concerts will also be a part of the programming.

Various Christmas programs performed at the Fine Arts Center will be aired also. The Weekly Standard Broadcast is one of the more outstanding programs aired over KWCR. The theme for the 1966-67 series is are Americans" the Heritage of Pan America. This series is presented by the Standard Oil Co. of California.

Says Mr. Sanders," The Standard Broadcast is one of the finest educational programs produced." In the near future, a monthly schedule of programs will be made available to Weber State faculty members and students. 'Lord Jim' 'Shows Thursday in UB The UB Film Committee will present "Lord Jim" Thursday at 3 and 7 p.m. in rooms 106 -108 of the UB. The film, which stars Peter O'Toole, James Mason and Eli Wallach, is an adaptation of the novel by Joseph Conrad.

The program will also include the next installment of the "Captain Video" serial and a color cartoon. Admission is identify only the product of The Coca-Cola Company Roger Wise Rallyman Gains Weekly Honor The Union Building Hospitality Committee this week honors Roger Wise, a junior majoring in child development and minoring in psychology. Roger was graduated from Ogden High School and has served an LDS mission in Western Spanish American Mission. He is a Rallyman, member of Delta Phi Kappa, chairman of the Games and Recreation committee and member of the Junior Council. He also plays bass for a folksinging group and is associated with the Ski Club.

We are just an instrument of the studentbody, using the money they give us, and we are always ready to change our policy of dances to benefit the studentbody." A number of after game stomps are planned throughout the basket ball season in January and Feb. If enough support is given by the studentbody, the committee will sponsor a New Year's Eve dance and light buffet. Debate Squad Heads For Colorado The Weber State College debate squad left for the University of Colorado at Boulder to participate in a forensics meet.
