Stardom! That's just what Tommy Nolan has attained. Tommy's great expectations were realized when he was cast as the star of "Buckskin," the new Western series that starts Thursday, July 3 at 9:30 p.m. on Channel 8 as a summer replacement for the "Ford Show." He'll play the part of Jody, a young boy whose mother runs a small hotel on the Montana frontier in 1880. Tommy, a five-year veteran of the theater, got his start in showbusiness in an unexpected way. like so many other actors.

Just a few weeks after his family moved to California, he was waiting in line with his mother to get tickets for a television show. A stranger suggested that Tommy be taken to an agent. Won 'Prince' Role The agent sent the young boy to read for a part as the Prince of Wales in an hour-long dramatic show. Tommy got the part and fine critical reviews. The reviews won him a role in the movie, "A Star is Born." with Judy Garland, and set a pattern for his career.

Tommy stepped from one job to another on the strength of critical praise or the commendations of directors who worked with him. A total of 13 feature films to date and more than a score of important television dramatic roles add up to a success story in any fiveyear career. Now that riding is going to be an on-camera pursuit, too, in "Buckskin," Tommy expects his parents to give in to his greatest ambition owning his own horse.
