Senator Dave Hall said that he had gone to Architectural Services and several locations were studied as possible solutions. "I talked with Doug Peterson, who will bring the issue proposal before the president's council," Hall said. "I want President Thompson to know that the students KWCR (continued from page 1) bounces off the mountains, he said. The station currently has a 5- to 10-mile broadcast radius. The transmitter will be powered from normal wall outlets in Promontory Tower, Clapp said.

The antenna is efficient enough to transmit with the power of two ordinary hair dryers. "Three thousand watts isn't much compared to 25,000 watt transmissionsof someof the largest area radio stations, 1 but it's better than 55," Clapp said. "This will result in a tremendous increase in coverage by our students," he said. "Advertisers will consider us more of a valid radio station." It will amplify the signal coming from radio station lines, converting it to 88.1 megahertz and boosting the power to the antenna, Wilson said. When all equipment is eventually installed, the radio station will start broadcasting at 300 watts and gradually increase power to the FCC transmission limit of 3,000 watts. The university wants to insure the signal doesn't interfere with other stations, Clapp said.
