Rittenhouse Paper Company is seeing continued growth with the Waco facility at 7901 Panther Way. Marian Steele, President and General Manager, Rittenhouse Paper Company-Texas, reports that the constantly expanding market, great work force and strong regional economic climate, all characteristic of the Southwest, have proven the decision to locate a plant in Waco a wise one. Mrs. Steele, added that the proximity of Waco to major Southwest markets has contributed substantially to the rapid growth of the local manufacturing plant. Being located less than four hours from Houston, one of the largest ports in the world, also allows Rittenhouse to market in the Southern ports of the world, including Central and South America.

Since February 1982 the operations have been located at their new facility on Panther Way in the Waco industrial district. Originally employing 20 in 1977 the plant is now staffed by 32 employees. The new building with increased capacities and manpower better enables the company to meet the expanding needs for cash register, banking and other related machine papers. The facility was designed to easily accomodate future expansion as needed in the sale and manufacturing of paper roll products to dealers and large paper distributors. They have increased business to the supermarket trade by a complete line of labels for meat, produce and frozen foods.

Despite economic uncertainty nationwide, the future looks bright for Rittenhouse Paper Company. KCEN-TV Sitched To ABC; Still NBC KCEN TV has switched to ABC from NBC. The O-I glass plant had a payroll of nearly $20 million in 1983 and with S78 million in annual glass house sales for the 1983 year. With 1.900 employees and nine bottling making machines, the glass plant continues to furnish non- returable beverage and beer bottles, and wide and narrow necked food containers, while adding to the Waco economy. In June, employees of O-I visited many local grocery stores to help promote Glass Awareness Week. Employees donated their time to work in the stores supporting "Only the Best Comes in Glass' and thanking patrons who were buying in glass.

Ray Haddock, an O-I employee, said. "We wanted to let the consumers know how much their buying in glass means to our employees and the Waco economy in general This was just one of the many things that the O-I workers did during Glass Appreciation Week to increase the awareness of the importance of glass to the Waco economy. There was also advertising materials distributed to local bars and restaurants. In addition the week was climaxed by tours of the Waco plant which were attended by over 1.000 Waco residents.
