Monday, September 25, 1989 THE Book dedicated to youth By Brett Hart Editor-in-chief of The Signpost Leone Creager is not your typical college sophomore. Few college students can boast of having two books published by the time they are sophomores. In fact, few students even come to college simply to learn how to write in order to tell the world of the tragic and amazing events surrounding the death of a loved one. Creager, 50, came to Weber State in 1984. During the last five years, she has endured three heart surgeries.

A year ago, she was told by her doctor that without a transplant she would not survive. Still, oxygen tank in hand, she manages to muddle her way from class to class. Creager's second book, It's My Life and I'm going to Live It, was finally published last August. It is the story of Creager's -year-old son, Stan, who was fatally wounded in 1978 by a shot gun blast. Stan managed to cling to life for five weeks before he finally died.

The book recounts the tragic events that took place before the shooting and the miraculous occurrences that happened while Stan was in the hospital. "Stan had set out to help the "parking lot" crew at his high BEAT (cont'd from page 9) that Thrash," in which contestants hurled the station's old heavy metal records like frisbees for distance and eventual impact. "You oughta see them fly," Toyn said. "They really fly. Especially when they hit a fence or a tree they shatter.

It was kind of symbolic of what we're doing." "Out with the old, in with the new," Connolly added. Another new addition to the station's format will be the hiring of a morning personality. Known only as "Mr. Love," he will encourage students to, as Toyn put it for the station's ad campaign, "wake up with some Love' in the morning." Mr. Love's identity will remain secret, at least for now, Toyn said, but he offered a brief clue for campus sleuths.

"He's funny, he's creative, he's from Weber State," he said, laughing. He also hinted that the mysterious Mr. Love may not be to fond of his new nickname. "I don't think he likes it, but he'll live with it." For the future, Toyn hopes the station's success will continue, and that students will continue to listen. "We're trying to reach out to the students," he said.

"We want to play what you want to hear." Page No. 17 school," Creager recalled. "To do this he had to dress and act as they did in order to gain their respect." "When Stan did this he was rejected by his other friends." During this period of time Stan got himself into trouble. Also during this period of time, he met the girl of his dreams who helped him begin to change his life. It was at this time he was accidently shot while trying to break up a fight between two friends.

The book is dedicated to "troubled youth everywhere and their parents." Creager said, "It had to be written because of the good it can do and the hope it can give."
