The playing of the chime is similar to playing a piano: The note that each bell responds to is indicated on the lever and by pressing the lever down with a short, quick stroke, the note desired is sounded. The system also allows an ample modulation. The Grace Lutheran bell placed in 1897 has been arranged on the top of the chime frame and may be rung indeuendently when desired.

The chimes are from the McShane Company, of Ilaltimore, and cast of the very best genuine bell metal, a composition of the purest copper and tin of the proper proportions, and are attuned to the system of equal temperament. CHARLES L. FRY. 1 stfucted to rueet the requirements ot the prace Lutheran tower. They are sounded from a lever-playing stand or console, which is placed in tne st tb Sc oz The Gospel is summed up in two commandments the one like unto the other. The first reveals our relation to God and 'affects the duties of the inner man', our mind, our conscience and our intelligence.

The other, which is like unto the first, because it is the work of God, affects the duties of the 'outward man towards his fellow man, his aeighbor. The Saviour "On. these- two commandments hang all the law 'and the prophets." Which, we understand, indicates that all the labors of the messengers and prophets. of the Lord which he has sent or given unto men were animated, directed and prompted by the Spirit of God; and since "God is love," all these manifestations were because of God's love to man. And the evidence of the duties of God, and of the- duties to our neighbor, is that they are wrvight in love.

Every one should be impressed that this evidence should be manifested or given forth in this life, which is the day of grate in which we are taught our duties by this same influence, the love of God; and the promise of salvation to the obedient. It is in this sense that the Lord said: "If a man love me, he will keep my words; and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. "He that loveth me not keepeth not my And Paul says, "All the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, 'Thou shalt love thy neighbor as The duties to our fellow man are expressed negatively in the law proceeding from the worldly mind: As, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not bear false witness, thou shalt not covet. But positively In the Gospel; proceeding from faith In Christ: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy' God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with'all thy mind. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." The endeavor should be to accomplish the duties of this life, the duties to God and to our fellow man, in obedience to these commands.

As the scribe said to Jesus: "Well, Master, thou has said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: to love him with all the heart, and with all the iunderstanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. "And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou Art not far from the kingdom of God." "The fruit of the Spirit is and the evidences of faith are joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against such there is no law. "If we live in us also walk in the let not be desirous of vain' glory, provoking one another envying one another." EMANUEL C. LONG. Williamsville, IN.
