The cultivation of the spirit of all the time instead of for only one short day or at most, a week is not difficult. Al! worldly joys go less To the one joy of doing kindnesses.

An influence of the Christmas kind would mean a revelation, a revolution for those whose whole life centers in the fashionable world. There is far too niuch selfishness, self-seeking, too little of gentle deeds, kindly thoughts, and loving words for those whose lives touch ours. Still, this is redeemed, once a year and then we can boast with the little boy. Jest Christmas, I'm as good as I kin bo! Mr. and Mrs.

Frank F. Castello gave a large party last evening in their beautiful home on North Nevada avenue. In the reception room there was a large Christmas tree lighted with tiny colored electric ligMs, and all the rooms were ilkiminated shaded lamps or candles. The hall and staircase as well as the niantels, were trimmed with klnnikln- nick, holly and mistletoe, and the dainty music room was in egg blue and pink, In Japanese effects. As soon as the guests had assembled Mrs.

Urdahl and Miss Eula Hamilton sang Christmas songs. Then suddenly made his appearance With a large sack full of gifts on his kack. Each child was requested by him to sing a song or recite. Anna Elstun gave a recitation and then Ann Lewis told of and the Little Mouse, Helen Castello recited very the very clever and iiinusing phiy that the members of the drtimatic class of the club have been carefully staging will be presented 'in the Cipera house next Tliursday evening. Those wlio htive attended the rehearsals are loud in its praises and it can safely be predicted that all who attend will have an evening of much enjoyment.

Some of the best iwofessional and amateur talent in the city is included In the cast. The most Itirgely attended social event of the past week wtis a beautifully arranged reception held last Tuesday evening, beginning at 8:30 in the assembly room at the Alamo. The reception was given by Air. George S. Elstun and Mr.

Orlln PJ. Plemenway, of the Colorado Springs school hoard, in compliment to the teachers and school officials. In the receiving line were Air. and Mrs. lilstun.

PI W. Stephens. Throughout the evening the Alamo orchestra discoursed pleasing Selections. In token of the holiday season all the decorations were in red and green. Wreaths of princess pine and holly tied with red ribbotis were suspended fiom the electroliers and along the side walls, while from the center of the ceiling a generous bunch of mistletoe served to complete the symbols of the Yu'etide.

The principals of each school building acted as a committee on introductions, consequently everybody becaipe acquainted, and certainly had a fine time. Airs. Stote and Mrs. Kinney at the punch bowl. Airs.
