A 10 Mond 2 9, 2019 EdMont Journ Na trivuN The Rosie Awards celebrated its 45th awards ceremony to recognize the best in Alberta film and television Saturday night at the Edmonton Convention Centre and Edmonton productions and their creators won 29 of 57 categories. The event was hosted by Fred Keating, marking his 25th time hosting the Rosies. It was also a special one as he was named the first recipient of the honorary AMPIA Ambassador Award. Mosaic teen drama took home best dramatic feature film, a big win for producers Camille Beaudoin and Eric Rebalkin. The feature also snagged an award for best editor.

Equus: Story of the Horse also took home three awards at the Canadian Screen Awards in Toronto in March. Thompson is currently in France and was unable to attend the ceremony, but had many people from his team accept the award on his behalf, one of them being Sandra Tober, production manager on Equus. Tober said the night is one of the highlights of the year and to even be nominated is something to be proud of. for Niobe, to be an Alberta-based filmmaker, to create films that reach worldwide audiences, always been, I think, one of the goals for our company as said Tober. Thompson also won best documentary (under 30 minutes) and best director (non-fiction under 30 minutes) for Boy Nomad, as well as best non-fiction short for Fast Horse.
