KIEFFER. A. N. BRENEMAN THE DEMOCRAT. WEDNESDAY MORN'G, OCT.

15, 1S45. YESTERDAYS ELECTION. The election passed off very quietly yesterday, and the result shows a considerable falling off in the aggregate vote. The annexed table gives the vote for Sheriff, the vote for the otheT offices not being counted off at the time of our going to press. In one respect, the result is highly gratifying.

Nativism is completely prostrate in Lancaster county. Never did a party receive a worse drubbing. The whigs, it is believed, have elected their ntire ticket, by majorities probably ranging from 200 to 900 it is possible that one or two of our candidates may be be 'elected. The vote in the city is small-only 1439, It will be seen that the democratic candidate for Sheriffhas a small majority in the city over the combined vote of the whig and native candidates. If the whigs have defeated us, we have at least the satisfaction of knowing, that not a vestige of nativism is left in Lancaster county We must defer all further remarks until next week.

THE attention of the trade and consumers is solicited to a perfect article of TIN PLATED LEAD PIPE, manufactured by an entirely new process, for which letters patent have been received, which plates the Pipes on the inside with an even coat of pure unmixed Tin. The advantages secured by rendering so soft and easily oxidated a metal as Lead sweet and anti-corrosive, by plating with tin at the same. time giving it additional strength and preserving the cheapness of the former metal unimpaired are too obvious to require comment. Great perfection having been attained in the manufacture, the subscribers are enabled to offer this superior article at the price charged for common Lead Pipe. All pipe sold by us is warranted not to burst or'ipht free from flaws, scales, or other imperfections, perfectly uniform in thickness, and not surpassed in quality by that of any manuficturer.

M5. 21-Jy PUBLIC SALE Or iiEAi. RSTATK. I'dne the 2'qli liny of old by piihlie 1 a 1 1 1 i pi, On GLORIOUS NEWS! We are informed by a passenger in this morning's train, that the democrats have carried Philadelphia county. Nativism is Dead Stocks in Philadelphia have tumbled down from their rates of last week.

UM. Died of Taralysis on Friday morning the 9th Mis.s Catharine E. Thompson. It affords a melancholy pleasure in the absence of all kindred, to leave upon record, as a memento, the amiable and endearing virtues of a departed friend. Mis.s Thompson was only known to be loved; she was kind and affectionate to a fault while the urbanity of her manners never failed to fascinate, and win for hera general and continued welcome.

She was a native of Ireland warm in her temperament and national predictions a great lover of freedom and the political institutions of her adopted country in reference to which she would sometimes allude with great strength and propriety- In general knowledge she had few superiors, and coiistitnt-ed by innocent humor and pointed wit. the lile and light of every company. She was a devoted practical believer in Christian principles, and throughout her nflliction in thfi vigorous use of her enlightened mind, she trusted in God through Christ for a happy eternity. During a residence ol pf'cnty-onc years in the family of Mrs. Dixon, of this city, she continually commanded the respect of all.

The chain of friendship has never been broken; and in her allusions to the extreme kindness of her many friends, her heart wonld relieve itself in tears ofgrati-tilde, thus rendering that bond still stronger as time approached when death iiouid sever the union. She has gone again we have heard that solemn requiem; mournfully pleasing has it fallen upon our ear; and while it led the mind to' contemplate departed worth, it whispered in its deep soft tones and its inspiring sentiments, tx thou aho iritily. The last obsequies have been' paid; the heavy sound of the descending clods has died away, while the stillness snrrminding the tomb may be broden only by the step or soliloquy of a visiting friend, in whose heart lives the recollections of her virtues and tho sure hope of her felicity.
