It goes without saying that Mr.

and Mrs. Grady will be attending the appearance of the couple at the Panhandle South Plains Fair in September. Perhaps there will opportunity for a personal introduction. I NOTED ON A PLANE the other day that Varieties," the musical tape selections offered on Continental cross-country flights for listening pleasure, included Guy and Ralna new recording of Antonio This is from their newest album called Songs We Love To Sing." Along on the same tape are recordings by Henry Mancini, Doc Severinsen and the Pat Boone family. Ralna is traveling in pretty good company these days and certainly such a varied listening audience as those found on these flights are sure to be a good boost for the couple's record sales.

Saudi Bell, of 2794 29th 8 student at Lubbock High School, worked long and hard to get Ralna and Mac Davis to appear either together or separately for a school assembly while they are here entertaining at Panhandle South Plains Fair. Both of these popular artists are Lubbock High graduates and Sandi thought this would be a nice homecoming. The school officials were so cooperative that an offer was made to call a special assembly at any hour that either or both entertainers could meet with the students. RALNA WROTE SANDI that she had tried to work out a schedule to permit time for the assembly, but taping of the Welk shows and rehearsals after her arrival here made it impossible. Sandi was not able to get an answer from Mac.

This Fair Program is one of the best that has been assembled. There is something for everyone and such a variety of acts should add much interest. In fact, I like a look at all of the artists. This the THE week for former Lubbock residents who have made good in the entertainment world. Besides the local appearances of Ralna and Mac, John Denver, a former Texas Tech student, will host the Johnny Carson show on Monday and then appear as guest on the Hope Special" on Wednesday.

Alan two shows on Channel 28 on Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 p.m. could not have come at a more opportune time. King gives a report on fairs and interviews people at Indiana State Fair from vendors, farmers and exhibitors to sideshow barkers and operators of the midway. 0 0 0 NIELSEN RATINGS for the two-week period ending Aug. 26 show that CBS had eight of the top 15 shows with NBC only owning four of the group.

Out of the four, were the regular series on Thursday and a repeat of an special movie. The fact that star Raymond Burr who has been very ill and may not be able to finish the year in his role as Chief Ironside must be a big headache for the network. I am not sure how many episodes are completed, but surely all of the filming had not been done since the strike must have also affected this series. Burr had already told NBC this would be his last year in the police role. He was planning further business ventures in the Fiji Islands and also some true-life adventure films about the islands, which he was to produce.

Add to this woe, Flip Wilson has given the network his decision not to sign a contract for another year. He has not done any night club work, saving all his energies for TV out of loyalty to the medium which made him a star. BUT FLIP NOW FEELS it is time to get out and be a part of the moving scene, a sort of re-charging of life with all its foibles. In so doing, he says this will enable him to continue his career in comedy. But Flip does plan some specials for NBC.

These are two big gaps that the network is going to find itself with come 1974.1 hope some bright new stars will make their faces shown ere long. Here are the ratings for the two-week period ending Aug. 26. 1. 2.
