Evangelistic Service THURSDAY 7 45 M. Bible Study Radio Daily 9 45 A.M. WGCB Red Lion JOHN H. BOOSKE A Pennsylvania Power and Light Co. spokesman said Thursday the company will comply with the federal Price Commission freeze on power company rate boosts.

At the same time, the spokesman said the company is faced with ever increasing difficulties as its price of materials, equipment and labor rise with no corresponding increase in rates. Obviously we will comply with the freeze order, the spokesman said. We hope the hearings will provide an opportunity to make known the economic facts of life involved. Sad to say, we see no lessening of the effect of inflation on the cost of materials, equipment and labor. Just Wednesday we completed the sale of $75 million worth of bonds at 7.58 per cent interest.

to 4 00 M. Daily 7.00 P.M. to 9 00 P.M. Friday considerably higher than that provided for in our rate level. COSTS RISE Construction costs continue to rise and we can do nothing further to offset them in trying to meet additional power needs without these higher costs being reflected in our prices.

The serious and dismal possibility that is created by refusing rate increases is an inability for rate regulated industries to finance or build new facilities for public services, the power company spokesman concluded. Coincidentally with the announcement of the federally imposed freeze on utility rates, the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission announced in Harisburg Thursday the postponement from Feb. 14 to March 16 the effective date of a $30 million an-nual rate increase for The utility agreed to the delay to give the PUC time to issue an order. Under the law, a rate increase becomes effective immediately at the end of a statutory nine-month suspension period in the absence of a ruling. Last year, the utility filed for an overall $42 million increase, $12 million of which was granted conditionally in May.

The remaining $30 million was suspended for an investigation which was closed Tuesday following argument before the commission. has 828,000 customers in 29 east-central Pennsylvania counties. ASSEMBLIES OF GOD Ephrata EVANGEL S. State St. Rt 27? Rev.
