Hospital Had Fewer Patients Last Year The number of people admitted to the Hardin County General Hospital in 1973 dropped to 1.244 compared to 1,477 in 1972, accard- ing to Miss Mildred Ferrell, nwdi-I cal records librarian of the hospital. Other statistics kept by Miss Ferrell ruveals that there was one live birth at the hospital in 73 and 33 deaths. One hundred and 97- operations were performed compared to 250 in 1972. Total patient days for 1973 was compared to 11,051 in 1972.

Average daily census for 1973 was 25.12; percent of occuancy was 64 and the average length 0f st-ay was 7.22 days. Walker said another $200 million in bonds have to accelerate the construction -of the states supplemental freeways, and. the freeways in Southern Illinois rank high.

He said the remaining 18 miles of 1-24 between Vienna and Marion should be opened in the summer of Cost of the 21-mile section is about $32 million.
