OISITUARY. Death of H. minnich. H. E.

Minnich of Landisville, son of the late Simon Minnich, died in that place yesterday of typhoid fever. The deceased was well known in this county, and was a prominent Democrat, aged 32 years. He leaves a wife six children. funeral will take place from his late resideuce Landisville Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mr.

Minnich will be remem bered in connection with some postal frauds alleged to have been practised by while a clerk in the postmaster at Landisville. Ho was tried twice in the United States district court at Philadelphia finally acquitted in 1881. A brother of the deceased, Jacob Minnich, is now lying very ill from the same disease, typhoid fever. Head Severely Cat. Last evening at as the Harrisbarg express train on the Pennsylvania railroad was pulling out of the depot in this city, Mr.

John Rice, a prominent manu facturer of Middletown, who was in this city and wanted to take the train for his home, ran to get aboard. He seized the handrail of the car, but slipped and fell, his head striking the track. He was quite seriously injured, having an ugly gash cut in his forehead. He was taken charge of friends and Drs. Davis and Roland ren dered him surgical aid.

He was sent home on the Pacille express at 9:25 this morning. At noon to day he was doing well and it is believed no permanent injury will result. Driving Accident This morning at 10 o'clock Wm. Bard and Clem Yohn, who were driving on the New Holland turnpike, stopped at M. B.

Weidler's Midway botel, hitching the horse while they went into the house. The horse tonk fright pulled back, slipped the bridle, and running off, upset the buggy, breaking the top off it He ran into the Horse shoe road for some distance, and falling was caught by Mr. Weidler and some others. The horse was hurt in the right hind leg, a deep gash being cut above the fetlock. The Night Schools.

Tho attendance at the night schools which were opened last night was very large, there being 125 pupils at the boys' school and 65 at the giris' school. In consideration of the large attendance. the night school committee elected R. S. Gates as an additional assistant teacher for the boys' school, and Miss Ida Lynn as assistant for the girls' school.

There is plenty of room for pupils, and additional teachers will be employed if necessary. The Fire at Christiana. The loss to Isaac Broomell Son by the destruction by fire of their machine shop and foundry at Christiana will reach $35,000. This includes the loss on building, stock and everything. They have an insurance of $11,000.

Their greatest loss destruction of valuable patterns, but a few of which are left. The fire when first dis covered was in the second story and it is belived to have been started by an incen. diary. Mattelous Trespass. Harry Sanders, and Harry McComsey, two small boys, have been arrested of thy charge of malicious trespass, on complaint of George W.

A Deaf Mute Falls to Commit Murder and Kilts -Stage Robbers Captured in California, BURLINGTON, Oct. dispatch from Iowa Junction, reports a fatal tragedy which took place there yesterday. W. Diver, a deaf mute, who had been rejected as a suitor by his brother's widow, attempted to kill her with an axe and inflicted serious injuries.

Interrupted in his endeavor to kill her, he cut his own throat and pounded himself on the head with the axe until he fell dead. The woman will recover. Stage Robbers Caught. SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. special dispatch says Heasly and Elmore, the two remaining stage robbers who aided in murdering, Collins, the Well Fargo mos August, were captured yesterday by Sheriff Gabriel and taken to Florence, Arizona, where their associates, Redfield and Turtle, were hanged by the citizens.
