R. FRIDAY THE BROOKLYN DAILY TIMES APRIL 15. 1927 11 FESS TO ANSWER THIRD-TERM Feeler in Behalf of Coolidge Will Be Issued Tomorrow, by Ohio Senator. By United Press. Washington, April The movement to crystallize, Republican sentiment for the re nomination of President Coolidge, well in advance of the convention next year, will take a decided turn Into the open over the coming week-end.

Senator: Fess of Ohio, one of the chief engineers of the movement, will issue a statement tomorrow declaring again for the re-nomination of Coolidge and in it will answer obJections on the "third term" score. This statement will be put forth as a "feeler" and coming from Fess will bear a peculiarly official tinge. Fess recently has called at the White House often. For a year he has been talking another term for Coolidge and getting others to talk it. The pronouncements for another term issued in the last few weeks by official visitors to the White House bear witness of the movement.

Fess has taken a most active part In trying to head off the boom of former Governor Lowden, of Illinois, by formulating a compromise farm relief program. The plan is to have western farm Republicans bring this program forward, with the administration giving its acquiescence. Meanwhile, Mr. Coolidge is saying nothing, publicly and, according all who visit him, is saying nothing privately, merely listening to those friends who advocate another term. URGES PUBLIC RIGHT IN HELL GATE SPAN Port Authority Files Brief Opposing Examiners' Report.

A further step toward opening the Hell Gate bridge route for traffic to and from Long Island was taken by the Port of New York Authority yesterday when a brief on the subwas presented to the Instestate Commerce Commission at Ject Washington, D. C. This case is under consideration by the Public Service Commission of New York as well as by the Interstate Commerce Commission, and today's, brief outlined exceptions to tentative reports proposed by the examiners. The Port Authority took exception to the suggestion of the examiners that joint use of terminal facilities in the New York district might retard terminal development. It contended that the 1 port problem would never be solved so long as each railroad is permitted to go its own WAY In the matter of terminal development and pointed out that both State and Federal laws make provision for the joint use terminals.

The point was stressed that the Hell Gate Bridge was constructed over navigable water by consent of the State and Federal Governments and that in such as bridge the public: had a right superior to that of the grantees. It was insisted that the route should be made available for westbound as well as eastbound traffic. 7 SEEK ASS'T DIRECTORSHIP Boro, One Queens Teachers Apply for McGrath Vacancy.
