C. Below Year Ago. The volume of freight traffic handled by the I railroads in February this year amounted to 34.340.775 ton miles, according to Burcan Railway Economics. Compared with February, 1929.

Substantial gains to both deposits and in a number of new accounts was shown in the quarter-annual report made by Judge Richards, president of the East New York Bank to the trustees at a meeting held on Thursday last.

This report shows the total resources of the bank on April 1 to exceed 43 million dollars. which is an increase of more than a million and a half dollars since January 1. Even more significant of progress is the fact that both the number of depositors and the amount on deposit have more than doubled in the last five: years. The bank is planning to enlarge 115 main office at Pennsylvania and Atlantic avenues at once by building a four-story addition on Atlantic thereby widening that portion of that building to 50 fret and by building on the rear of the building a one-story cellar and extension providing room for the board of trustees and anteroom and for the enlargement of their safe deposit department.
