With no other basis of comparing the two clubs, downtown oddsmakers are doing their- handicapping by the calibre of the two leagues. The Big Island's better teams, they surmise, are on. a par with some of the best in Rural Oahu.

It will be recalled that the Vikings, some years ago, walloped a good Waialua team. And Hilo, this year, is al good team, make no mistake' about that, despite their: 33-20 loss Iolani last week. Leilehua, furthermore, mentored by the pass-minded Joe figures to be strong contender in the Rural Oahu loop. Held pretty much to defense last week by the offensiveminded Raiders' of Iolani, the Vikings figure to cut loose this time from whistle to gun. Which means plenty of offensive action, what with the Mules boasting a fast and powerful: backfield, and it is inevitable that they'll throw the ball around a lot, too.

The Mules can expect to see the air bombarded with pigskins, too, with either Harvey Hirata, the Viks' three-year letterman, or Andy Kualli, who showed much promise last week, on the firing, end. The game may turn out to be a fierce battle of powerful running between Hilo's Alex Kamau and Leilehua's Larry DeRego. They go at 190 and 175 respectively. There should 'be plenty of broken field running, too, with Tom Prohaska and Del Bernard going for, the Mules, and Charley Takahashi and Ralph Iboshi threatening for Hilo. Leilehua finished a strong third last year in the Rural Oahu circuit.

While the Vikings looked good in defeat to. many observers, Toma and his staff weren't satisfied at all with their performance in the Iolani game. Their running left much to desired, Toma said after the game, and the kids played too much in short spurts. "I want them to be in top condition, full speed ahead all the, way," he has said. With that in mind, Toma put his charges' through extensive drills conditioning the past week.

He intends, moreover, to utilize the unexpectedly fine talent of his second unit a lot more today. 2:30 P.M. Starters LEILEHUA Names No. YamamotoSakaki- P. Kaailai- 45 Mahi-53 Ideguchi- 54 D.
