It is read everywhere and its 1 advertising rates arc lower, circulation compared, than those of com-. peting papers. These arc not shadowy claims, but facts that can be verified even if they are not self-evident. Tho state hoard of agriculture is receiving reports from various sections New Jersey which indicate that there is danger of an epidemic of hog cholera throughout the state this fall and winter, and the news is alarming the farmers. It was in this locality that the epidemic started two years ago.

The suggestion of a bicycle path along the East Jersey Water companys pipe line has been made by some of the wheelmen of this city who have recently been over that route, and the idea is a feasible one.

The line from Newfoundland, this county, to Newark is marked by a path vised for the workmen. which in places is in fair enough condition for wheeling, and it is tins that has suggested to some cyclers the idea of converting the path into a speedway which shall he wide enough for both wheelmen and pedestrians. The idea is good, ami the soil is so admirably adapted to a cycle path that a very little outlay could put it into excellent shape. Concerted action upon the part of the bicyclists might provide the devotees of the wheel in this section with a fine run between Newark and the Pcquannock lake region. Considerable interest is felt in the action taken by President Barrow of the Atlantic league with reference to the Soby cup. The cup was given last year under an agreement in which the donor, Charles Soby-, expressly stated that the winner of the cup j8) should play the pennuty winners for the season of 1807.

Paterson won the trophy last year, and by the agreement the Silk City team should play Lancaster, the pennant. winners this year. But Manager Ellis of Newark and Pre-idcnt Barrow insist that the cup shall he played for by Lancaster and Newark, the two teams with the highest standing. This would make the Soby cup like the Temple cup in ar National league. Manager McKee of Pater son will probably get an injunction preventing Xrwark from playing Lancaster.
