There has for several years been given a prize, known as the Apple ton prize consisting of twenty-tive dollars in books, and given by the Appleton Publishing Company to the one attaiuing the highest general grade on all branches. Of the eighty-one young physicians examined. Dr. Jones was the fortunate man. Dr.

Jones has also graduated as a pharmacist, but will practice as a physician in this city, having pleasant ofTce quarters on Middle Btreet. With Dr. Frank Duffy, eiec.ed President of the State Medical Society, and Dr. Jones carrying off the Appleton prize. New Berne has reason to feel proud of two gentlemen.
