Bennett ETTERS Alan Butch K. Bennett, 64, was Carl Cook ELIZABETHTOWN Carl Clarence Cook, 95, formerly of York, died peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.

Born in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late George F. and Bertha R. Roland N. Messersmith YORK Roland N. Messersmith, 91, died suddenly on Friday, August 21, 2009, In an automobile accident.

He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Wolf) Messersmith, whom he married In 1965. He became Nathan M. Newcomer HARRISONBURG, VA Nathan M. Newcomer, 30, formerly of York, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital In Rockingham, Va.

Nathan was born on October 13, 1978, In York and was the son of Kathy Snell and the late Dale Newcomer. He attended high school In York before moving to Harrisonburg, Va. six years ago. He was a self-employed Home Maintenance Technician. He was also member August 24, 2009, after a lengthy Illness, at home with her family by her side.

She was the wife of Raymond with whom she celebrated 46 years of marriage on July 4, 2009. Kay was born May 12, 1944, in Monongahela, the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (McClain) Collins of Falrchance. Additional survivors include two daughters, Darlene Flemmens and her husband Jeffery, East Berlin and Erica Uhler at home; two grandchildren, Nikki and Brock Flemmens who were her pride and joy; three brothers, Charles Collins and his wife Gladys, Baltimore, Robert Collins and his wife Shirley, Cleveland, Ohio and Gary Collins and his wife Linda, Baltimore, moth-er-in-law, Hazel Uhler, Falrchance; ex sister-in-law, Ginny Collins, Cleveland, Ohio; sister-in-law, Sondra Tolbert and her husband Dale, Uniontown; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Donna Collins. Kay was a wonderful friend and warm and giving person.

Her life revolved around raising her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Kay enjoyed doing crafts and working in the garden with flowers as well as playing bingo and shopping. She also loved her poodles and enjoyed watching butterflies. Kay was last employed at Lincoln Intermediate Unit, New Oxford as a van driver before her retirement. The family would like to especially thank her caregivers Darlene, Sandy, Debbie, Erica and Raymond.

A service to celebrate the life of Kay will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday from the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle Hanover with Pastor Jerry Shoap of First Church of God, Hanover officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be from 2 p.m. Saturday until the time of servicie at the funeral home. The family and friends will meet at First Church of God, 600 Fairview Hanover following the service for a time of fellowship and refreshment.

Conrad Cook. Carl was the owner of the former Carl Cook's Auto Sales In York where he the was first Jaguar and MG Car dealer in the greater York area. He was the husband of Lorraine Melsenhelter Cook. Carl had a keen interest for the game of golf and automobiles throughout his life. Surviving in addition to his wife are a stepson, Michael husband of Margaret Wood of York; a stepdaughter, Lynn Wood of York; two-step grandchildren; and two-step great-grandchildren.

Bom on September 27, 1944, in Elks County, he was the son erf the late Mabel A. (Britton) and Harold Bennett. "Big Al" graduated from Cedar Cliff High School. He was a truck driver employed by Best Way Systems. He was previously employed by Yorktowne Cabinets for 23 years.

Alan was a member rf Pinchot Park Assembly of God. He belonged to Windsor Assembly of God for over 25 years. Butch loved to sing, especially for the Lord. He brought laughter and shared the joy of life with those his life touched. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Bennett leaves to cherish his memory four children and their families, Gregory Bennett of York, Sherry Lynn Crawford of Arizona, Dawn Wertz of York and Alicia Seigman and husband Bernard, Jr. of Red Lion; 13 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; a mother-in-law, Josie Sullivan of York; and one brother, Vincent L. Bennett and wife Donna of Newville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Hershberger and a brother, Eugene Bennett.

A viewing will be held on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, 822 E. Market Street, York (formerly the John H. Danner Funeral Home) and on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Manchester Assembly of God Church, 4115 Board Manchester.

Carbaugh Stremmel, 82, suddenly entered into God's eternal care Monday, August 24, 2009, at Hanover Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Bud Stremmel who died May 29, 2005. Bom June 10, 1927, in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late William U. and Salome B. Rutter Carbaugh.

Survivors include her three daughters, Salome Hohf and her husband. Brad, Martha Stremmel and Celeste Hartlaub, all of Hanover; four grandsons; a sister, Patricia Batoha of Hanover; and two brothers, Joseph and Ralph Carbaugh, both of California. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St.

Joseph Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt and the Rev. Lawrence J. McNeil.

Burial will follow in the Conewago Chapel Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A Rosary service will be said at 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St.

He is survived by his sister, Betty Spangler, his two brothers, Charles Messersmith of York, and Robert Messersmith of Enhaut; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grandnephews. Also surviving Roland are his stepdaughter, Twila Wolf Seiple Middleton and her husband, Arthur Middleton, who returned to York to help Roland care for his ailing wife, Mary, Roland's grandchildren, Allen Seiple, III of Ludlow, -Vt, Susan Lee of Danvers, Robert Seiple of Northboro, Melissa McHugh of Nassau, N.Y., and Christine Mateer of Tahoe City, and 12 great-grandchildren, who will all miss him terribly. Mr. Messersmith attended a one room school and won the York County Spelling Contest at the age of 14. He then quit school and worked on a farm to help support his mother and siblings.

He later walked the picking vats of sulfuric acid in a steel factory. His last employer was Teledyne Readco from which he retired after 40 years. He was a member of the Prince A.A. Club, the Girard Club, and Salem Stone U.C.C. of Carlisle.

He was an ardent bowler and enjoyed all sports. In his last years, he loved breakfast at Alexanders with at least four cups of coffee, and taking his brother to the "club" or his friend out to dinner. He was one of the most caring, giving men who ever walked this earth. He will be sorely missed. The viewing will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Box 367, Carlisle, PA 17013. Timothy M. Myers DOVER Timothy M. Timmer Myers, 39, died Sunday evening, August 23, 2009, at York Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennifer Myers on February 8, 2009.

Born September 12, 1969, in Ridgeway and formerly of Wilcox, he was employed by Fed-Ex Ground in York for the past 14 years. Henderson YORK Adrienne Ruth Henderson, 54, died at 1 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, at her residence. Bom September 6, 1954, in Allentown, she was the daughter of Elizabeth Betty (Santa) Henderson-Bartels of York, and the late Harrison Maurice Henderson. She earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts from the University of Mississippi and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of York.

Adrienne operated her own Pet Sitting Service. In addition to her mother, Adrienne is survived by her stepfather, Roger Bartels of York; a brother, Robert Lee Henderson and his wife, Janet of Broken Arrow, and her beloved cats, Conway, Travis, and Becky. Following cremation, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Calvin C. Hoover, Sr. LINGLESTOWN Calvin (Cal) C. Hoover, 82, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a loving father and grandfather.

Bom February 16, 1927, in York, he was the son of the late Esterbell (Goodyear) and William Hoover, and former husband of the late Dorothy M. (Cupp) Hoover, his wife of 35 years. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. New Jersey (BB-62).

He worked for the PA Railroad, Conrail, Aqua Specialist and was an Auctioneer for over 35 years. He was a member of the United Transportation Union, American Legion Post 272 Lingelstown, and lifetime member of the Linglestown Fire Company, serving a term as President and volunteering for many years. He is survived by his five children, a son, Calvin C. Hoover, and his wife, Melissa of Harrisburg; daughters, Laura L. Williams of Linglestown, Linda L.

Shingara and husband, Terrance (Terry) of Harrisburg, Barbara (Barb) L. Lindemuth and husband, William (Bill) of Thompsontown, and Brenda F. Pelletier and husband, Mark of Shermans Dale; 10 grandchildren, Krista Drupp, Carson Crane, Bryan Gleim, BethAnn Peters, John Ryan, IV, Christopher (Chris) Ryan, Calvin (Bo) Hoover, Katelin (Katie) Hoover, Tyler Hoover and Cody Hoover; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, David of Gardners, Richard of New Oxford, Arthur of Glenville, Almena (Sis) Motaka of Stewartstown, Elenora (El) Toddes of Gettysburg, Naomi Reimold of Stewartstown, and Sue Frauley of Hanover; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers, William and Kenneth; and sister, Jane Rahe. The only thing he loved more than life as his five children and his family; he did not want to leave us.

His greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially family picnics and holidays with all his children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling out west, going to auctions, PA Railroad memorabilia, Rail Museums, sightseeing, reading, gardening and flowers. As well as sitting on a porch just chatting with family, friends and neighbors-enjoy-ing life! A memorial service will be held in honor of Calvins life on Thursday at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Susquehanna Twp. Viewing will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
