A University of Hawaii School of Public Health study team also reported the percentage of Oriental women having abortions rose five per centj still are by far the largest ethnic group. According to the report; the majority of abortions still are performed within 12 weeks of pregnancy and there have been no -deaths resulting from tlfe operations. There were 2,886 abortions performed in Hawaii from mid-March last year when the new law became effective until the end of the year.

About 63 cent of all abortions have been performed at Kapiolani Maternity and Gyncecological Hospital in Honolulu. The average age of the patient has risen from about 20 to 25.
