Grandmother Loses Custody of Child PHILADELPHIA, Nov.

4--(UP) --The state supreme court Wednesday rejected the appeal ot Mrs. Elizabeth Kovacs, of Grand Haven, for custody of her two-year- old granddaughter whose parents were killed by a berserk neighbor in Grand Haven In April, 1953. Mrs. Kovacs had appealed a state superior court ruling which reversed a lower court decision and gave custody of Patricia Ann Kuntz to her maternal auut, Mrs. Robert J.

Stackhouse, Newtown Square, Pa. In July, 1953, Michigan Probate Judge Frederick T. Miles awarded custody of the child to Mrs. Stackhouse to remove Patricia Ann from the small town where her lather was shot to death and her mother fatally stabbed. Mrs.

Kovacs, the paternal grandmother, sued for custody and the Delaware county court in Media, Pa. awarded her the child on the basis of her closer relationship. The state supreme court, on an appeal by the Stackhouses, reversed the decision. Rayburn No. 3 For Democrats A I Nov.

Norio Higano of the Memorial hospital's radiolsotope laboratory, said his Geiger counters have been noting increased radioactivity since the first of the week. The increase is not dangerous, he emphasized, but complicates therapy work and research. Upper air currents mally carry traces of such atomic tests a the globe. Edgar Heath, Mesick, Dies Edgar Heath, 70, died at his h.ome near Mesick Tuesday, following a long illness.

He has been in failing health for the past two years. Mr: Heath was born near Meauw- in Wextord county July 23, 1SS4, the third child of George and Catherine Heath. He was married to Blanche Eargood on October 26, 1909 at Mesick his entire life in Wexford county. Surviving, in addition to the widow, are four daughters, Mrs. Wesley Bailey and Mrs.

James Milliard, both of Cadillac; William Hamilton of Bergland and Mrs. Frank Flees Cedar; 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two brothers, John of Mesick, and George of Manton. One sister, Jennie Coon, preceded him in death. The body was taken to the Nugent Funeral home in Mesick. It will be moved to the Mesick Methodist church at noon Saturday, where a services will be held at two o'clock.
