Utility Prok In the Offing WASHINGTON, Oct. 1--(UP)-A senate inquiry Into the controversial Dixon-Yates power contract today threatened to trigger a demand for a full-scale investigation oC utilities reminiscent of New Deal days.

It appeared all but certain that congress will be asked to vote funds this year for an Investigation of utilities and holding companies similar to the one that broke up big power trusts and led to the holding company act of 1935. The act established the Securities Exchange Commission and regulates the nation's financial life. Kefauver based his charge on testimony of J.

D. Stietenroth before the senate anti-monopoly subcommittee investigating the proposed Dixon-Yates contract. Stiet- enroth, ousted secretary-treasurer of the Mississippi Power and Light was recalled for a. fourth appearance before the subcommittee. Mississippi Power and Light is an operating subsidiary of middle south which along with the Southern Co.

makes up the Dixon-Yates syndicate.
