Ted Hedlund, West Thirteenth street, have received word that their son, Otis Lee Hedlund, tank commander, has been promoted to sergeant. Neuckrani, who arrived here this week by plane from San Francisco, Calif, on a 30-day furlough following completion of a year's service on Okinawa Island, motored to Chicago Thursday to visit relatives and friends prior to going to Colorado Springs, Colo, where he will now be stationed. RECIPIENT OF AWARD--Hattie Mae Lowe, Mesick, is the recipient of the Penny Junior Leadership award for excellence in 4-H leadership, according to Miss Ruth Gould, Wexford County Home Demonstration Agent. Miss Lowe will recehe an expense-paid trip to the 34th National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago Nov 25-Dec. 2. She led two clothing clubs in Mesick Consolidated School as well as a summer club, Miss Gould said. She has also participated in speech and home improvement competitions at the state 4-H show.
