Many of these people who make anything from jewelry, ceramics, and woodwork to Christmas ornaments, butterflies encased in plastic and pottery shared their Handiwork with the viewing public during the fourth annual Hobbycraft Fair Saturday held under the sponsorship of the Charlevoix Chamber of Commerce. 09 Saturday's event attracted more than 120 exhibitors from throughout the state and the midwest, a far cry from the first "show in 1969 when only 20 area residents entered the show. Mrs.

Dean Davenport, who was among the early exhibitors, commented Saturday that "We've come a long way. We knew there was a place for people interested in hobbies and crafts and today's show proves we were right." Saturday's spectators and buyers came from both coasts and as far away as Canada a and the South conversations with visitors revealed, according to Tom Merta, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of the event. East Park, site of Saturday's show, is the site of such events as the Spring Flea Market (held the third Saturday in June), the Hobbycraft Fair (held the second Saturday in July), the Venetian Festival (July 21-23), the Waterfront Fair for Artists and Craftsmen (Aug. 12) and the Fall Flea Market (Sept. 23), which are among the attractions sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.

br Bobby Has Own Chair Flown for Chess Match REYKJAVIK, Iceland (UPI) -The Boris Spassky-Bobby Fischer world chess match can favorite chair has arrived. The swivel chair in metal and black leather was flown from New York to Iceland and put on the stage in the Reykjavik chess hall Sunday. Spassky's Russian advisers arrived shortly after the much talked about chair and studied it suspiciously. Then they left without comment. Now the Icelandic organizers face a new problem: Where to find a similar chair in Iceland? "It would look better if both Spassky and Fischer had the same chairs," said Gudmundur president of the Icelandic Chess Federation.

Fischer took one look at the dozen different chairs the Icelanders had assembled from them and then gave his verdict: "Fly in my own chair." Spassky, the 35-year-old world champion, did not seem to worry much about details of the $250,000 match. Before leaving for a salmon fishing tour of northern Iceland the defending champion said, "I am not going to argue about chairs, chess boards and sets. I will leave that to Bobby. It makes no difference to me." After lengthy and dramatic preludes, both Fischer and Spassky appeared ready to start the first of their 24 games Tuesday. Gudmundur Arnlaugsson, deputy referee of the match, spent all day Sunday polishing off the fine details.

He tested several chess boards and finally settled for one made i in Iceland specially for the match.
