I A I The 25th annual Will Gray Memorial was held Sunday at the Grace church in Benzie county, located southwest of Benzonia, with the memorial sermon given by the Rev. 0. B.

Clarence Miller returned to Detroit Monday morning following a weekend lisit at the home of Mrs. Anna Meyer, 417 West Ninth street. They weie accompanied by Mrs. Miller's mother, Mrs. Kate Hamment, who has been the guest of Mrs.

Meyer and other friends and relatives for the past two weeks. On Sunday the group visited Lund's Scenic Gardens. Rev. and Mrs. Levi Pennington, Newberg, are guests of Rev.

Pennington's brothers, Willis and Parker, of Interlochen. Rev. Pennington is piesident emeritus of Pacific College and while in the east will visit Canada and many American cities, including Richmond, wheie he will attend the Five Year meeting of the i church. Rev. Pennington is former local resident.

A AT A -Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Bostick funeral home at Manton, for Mrs. Ervin Snyder, mother of Mrs. Ray Anderson" of Mesick, -nho died in Mercy hospital at Cadillac. Burial was made in the Liberty township cemetery. Mrs.

Snyder was a lifelong resident of the Manton community. Surviving are her husband; four brothers, including Gaylord Crawford of Manton; four sisters; nieces and nephews. BROTHER A BY DEATH --The funeral of Merrill Richardson, 70, of Norwood, brother of Mrs. John McCall of this city, who died unexpectedly at the Tharlevoix hospital, a held Monday afternoon at the Pontius chapel, with Rev. Robert Moore of the East Jordan Methodist church in charge of the service.

Mr. Richardson died just four hours after he had been admitted to the hospital. Surviving are his widow, two sons, Milton M. and Doyle both of Norwood; one other sister, Mrs. Glenn Brennon of Hammond, a half brother, Cecil Richardson of Norwood and six grandchildren.

PERSONAL APPEARANCES-Don Melvoin appeared at the county fair in Petoskey last week, and on Saturday made a personal appearance at the Thompsonville homecoming. SON PROMOTED--Mr. and Mrs. Norman O. Wyckoff, West Eleventh street, have received word of the recent promotion of their son, Wayne Wyckoff, to Personnel Man at Tacoma, where he is stationed.

PLANE UPSETS CADILLAC, Aug. 30-(UP)--Cadillac police rescued a Muskegon pilot in a motorboat yesterday after the flyer's amphibious plane upset and sank on Lake Cadillac. Clifford Kleaver, 47, the pilot, escaped injury. He said he had taken off from Grand Haven yesterday afternoon on a business trip here. Kleaver said rough water upset the plane after he landed near the city dock.
