I RECORD-EAGLE, TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 1949 Death Claims Old Teacher Maurice A. Ryan, 89, died at the oome of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Garland, on Randolph Hill Tuesday evening alter an illness of sev- sral years. He was born in Accrington, Lan- England. October 22, 1859, ind came with his parents to Cone- BUS Center, X.Y., when a child.

In 1836 he came to Alaska, Michigan, where he was married to Ktfie Dean, who preceded him in death in 1945. Mr. Ryan was a teacher, having taught in the rural schools ot Kent, Leelanau and Grand Travrese counties and was Kent county tru- ant officer at one time. For a few yers he was an employe of the Traverse City state "hospital. He was a life member of Valley City Lodge Xo.
