Mrs, Carson Hudson and son have returned home from Flint where they spent a couple days with her mother. They also visited her father who ia recovering from an operation.

Friends here have received the word of the death of Elsworth Marbel of Flint, a former resident of Sherman. Mr, Marbel spent his boyhood days in this community. He was married to Miss Emma Sniff while a resident here. Besides his wife and family, Mr. Marbel leaves his father, a sister, Gertrude, and a brother, Arthur.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred McDonald received word that their son Walter and wife of Marrilla, are the parents of a baby daughter, Cathaleen, born in the hospital at Man- Istee Thursday. Raymond Coger and a friend of Fife Lake and Phyllis Coger of held in the church on Good Friday from 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock. Callers at the home of Mr.

Rev. Ebby of Benzonia preached in his place last Sunday. Mrs. Ralph Link entered Munson hospital in Traverse City last week. The benefit party sponsored by PTA, given Friday was a great success.

Mr. and Mrs. George Sheldon returned home from Ann Arbor last week where Mr. Sheldon has been ill in University hospital for several weeks, Donald Bender accompanied by Gordon Armstrong, and George Demerly and the owner of the plane flew from Frankfort to Bat tie Creek Sunday. Harold Johnson, who works on Ludington boats, is spending a few days at home.

Rinehart said no date has been set for the funeral service as yet, but he said all business places in Effingham would close next Tuesday as a memorial for the victims. Three persons are missing and four bodies recovered from the charred ruins have remained unidentified. Officials set the final death toll at 74. Rinehart said a nationwide drive for funds to rebuild the hospital has been started.
