Leader, Thursday, July 28, 1994, Page A-2 SOCIETY and of logan Charles Radnie Crafton of the Deerlick community, a song writer and inventor, has been voted into the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers called ASCAP and also into a full membership for song writers. He has just returned from his first meeting with ASCAP in Nashville, Tenn. He met and talked with a number of notable song writers such as Richard Leigh, who wrote "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," which was recorded by Crystal Gayle and Pat Alger who wrote "Unanswered Prayer," that was recorded by Garth Brooks. When asked how he received the membership, Crafton said he wrote a gospel song called "Down From Heaven He Came," and then Don Neagle and Mac Mallory played the song over WRUS radio. Mallory then wrote a letter saying that the song was being played and Crafton sent it to New York, which is the headquarters for ASCAP he gives the credit for his membership to Neagle and Mallory.

Crafton has also invented a guitar pick which is different fr from the one we have seen. The regular pick has 1 to have a fingernail but the one Crafton has invented can be used without the nail or if the musician has a handicap. He is now waiting to hear if the company that he sent it to will make them. Future They include continuing to write and send songs to other publishers and writers and try to get someone to record them. He has sent some songs to the company that records Johnny Cash.

Crafton has his own company and label Crafton Music Company. Kip Smith, managing editor of the News- Democrat Leader, recently spent his weeks vacation on the beaches of Destin, and in New Orleans, La. where he watched a new Alec Baldwin movie being filmed. Ann Gray, a new comer to Russellville went out to Wal-Mart on Monday to do some shopping and when she went to put the packages in her car she put her purse down on the parking lot and then drove off without it. She did not miss it until she got home and went to get her garage door opener and realized she had lost her purse.

A gentleman found the purse and took it into Wal-Mart and they called Gray. She certainly was so happy to get her purse because she had a lot of valuables in it. However, no one knows who this nice gentleman is! If you were that nice person call Mary Jane Smith at 726-8394. Gray would like to be able to thank you. It is so good to know that we do have very good neighbors in Logan County.

Jesse Holman Jones Hospital in Springfield, had ground breaking ceremonies for its $21.8 million replacement facility recently. The future hospital will be located on U.S. Highway 431 South near the Springficld city limits. The new 164,000 square-foot 100 bed hospital will be built on the 43-acre site the floor facility is scheduled to open in late 1995. There will also be floor plans of patient care areas and a rendering of the new facility for guests to view.

The Cabinet for Human Resources announced that as of June 30, 1994, there have been 10 cases of AIDS in Logan County. Kentucky had a total of 78 cases with the largest percentage in the 30 to 39 age bracket. 68 of the 78 cases were men and 55 were white of the 78 were white. techniques. Herron, along with the other members of her unit with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan, where she is currently assigned, took part in the two-week exercise "Cloud Warrior" to reacquaint themselves with weapons and tactics. During the training, the unit's practiced land navigation, camouflage and concealment, and automatic weapons and patroling the Institute.

The groomsmen were Bo Duncan, Ronald Henderson of Butler County and Riley Watkins of Russellville. The ring bearer was Dustin Self of Russellville, nephew of the bride. Music was provided by pianist Andrea' Brown of Lewisburg, and a vocal presentation by Dafnel Fulcher of Russellville.

Sunny Trammell of Russellville kept the register. Reception: A reception was held immediately following the wedding at the Basin Street Mall. The bride's cake was decorated with scalloped icing, pearls, and ivory. A porcelain bride and groom adorned the top. The groom's cake was chocolate on chocolate with a volleyball decoration.

LISA CHRISTINE TIMBERLAKE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Timberlake of Russellville, became the bride of Joe Scott Pitts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronny Pitts of Franklin, at 6 p.m.
