Call The Logan LeaderNews Democrat Advertising Dept for Details AN ARTICLE about Hopkinsville and Christian County in The Courier Journal Magazine Sunday was another in John Ed interesting series about Kentucky counties The thing that struck me as being so much like Logan County was the fact that two people were quoted as saying that the economy there was doing pretty well in many ways what we need is a couple of good farm It would be a blessing here too a publication sent out to customers of Pennyrile Rural Electric Cooperative Cor poration has some encouraging words in its July issue In case you missed them John Mason the coop manager said electric rate increases should not be as large or frequent as they have been in the recent past The demand for electricity continues to grow he said but not at the rate it once did Reduced demand has enabled TV A supplier to delay some con struction that would have pushed costs higher Sounds like some stability may have come to electric rates Now if the same thing could be said for interest rates NEW POLICEMEN on Russellville force are Ken Bunton Larry Jones and Reggie Gough Morris Kisselbaugh has rejoined the force also training now and will attend police school at Eastern Ken tucky University when there is an opening They had hoped to go this fall but it appears now it will be the second semester before EKU has room for them good news and bad news in having to wait to go to says Gough who usually has a theory on just about any situation bad news is it will slow down our chance for a pay raise Part of the good news is that have more time to learn the job and a much better chance of passing with the experience the good news too is that get to be home to see the Panthers play this THE LOG A LEA DER Published every Monday by AL Shriners Clown Club from Bowling Green was there Saturday afternoon for a picnic and outing They also have quite a few groups from Clarksville who visit often and other groups from Bowling Green A group from Morgantown apparently with their fishing appetite whetted by the Catfish estival over there was at Sunway recently also We congratulate the Lake Malone Homeowners group on presenting its case so well at the public hearing in rankfort Tuesday that the legislators urged the Dept of ish and Wildlife to reassess its position on the regulation the homeowners were disnutinc The regulation prohibits the PENNYRILE POWER LINES property owners from cutting the weeds and shrubs on property on which the state has an easement between the lake and the private property The property owners said they want this strip to grow up between their property and the lake saying it would be unsightly dangerous and unhealthy The department said the grown up strip would be a buffer zone between the lake and the private property and that people feel free to use the state easement when it was like front lawn Seems to me the property owners are right that they be expected to let what appears to be a part of their yards (even if it exactly that) grow up and that the amount of the easement the state has be enough space for fishermen to feel they on property anyway Hospital construction (Continued from Page 1) County Tenn and says this job is the closest one had to home in 16 years Two of the subcontracting firms generally work with Rodgers on hospital projects They are Bond Electrical of
