Both teams were undefeated in the county as they met for a renewal of a bitter series, in which Albertville has had a slight edge in recent years. For its only score, Albertville had to take to the air.

It completed seven passes in succession tc march into pay dirt for the only time of the night. On rushing, Albertville was held consistently by the big Guntersville line, which is rated as one of the best in this section. Guntersville stuck to straight ball throughout the game, only one of its touchdowns resulting from anything but powerful drives downfield. One of the outstanding plays of the game was made by Bartlett, shifty Guntersville back, who zigzagged 60 yards for one of the scores. A 30-yard pass from King to Perkins accounted for another tally, and the rest were rushed over, with the big linesman opening up the holes.

The score was Guntersville 19, Albertville 0, at the half. Capt. Nelson Williams was outstanding in the good line of the winners. The crack passing attack of Albertville was led by Woodall, on the throwing end, and Jolly and Robert Thompson as receivers. A crowd of approximately 3,000 witnessed the championship tilt, which was the last of the season for both teams.

About 15,000 fans saw the Jackets march to within one game of a perfect season and a post-season bowl bid.

They seemed destined to rise to No. 1 rating in the national poll. Their last game throws them next week against the Georgia Bulldogs, rated No. 1 in Associated Press rankings but upset today by Auburn 27-13. Georgia Tech, opening with second stringers, and plainly pointing ahead to Georgia, was outplayed through most of the first half.

The Engineers put together only one drive before the intermission, converting it into a 7-0 lead that enabled them to reach the half alleven at 7-7. Then, with the regular starting the second half, the Techs proceeded to clip off a touchdown in each of the last two quarters, against an often-beaten Florida eleven that never gave up. Happy Jack Meagher bubbled over: "We were glad to win, and 1 know Georgia was awfully disappointed. A hard-charging line harder charging, by far, than anything Georgia had seen ail season was the difference between the two teams.

It throttled Georgia's running attack, and rushed its passers until All-American Frankie Sinkwich and Charlie Trippi thought the roof was falling in. But the charging of Auburns line would have made little difference without the spectacular running of a great pair of backs Reynolds at fullback and Gafford ai tailback. Operating often from a drunken-looking formation, mixed with variations of a single wing attack, they slashed Georgia's line like a high-speed harvester.
