Prosecutors in the 1993 murder hope Wetzel County Prosecuting Attorney Bill Lemon said a warrant for Freemans arrest was issued Thursday after his office obtained a passport photograph of the man. He hopes the publicity will put new life into the investigation. Weve been working on this for a year and were exhausted, Lemon said.

Were out of leads and were pleading for help. Their work began in November 1994 after Goods badly decomposed body was found in the basement of his rural log cabin home by a would-be burglar. The stunned burglar called in an anonymous tip to police, adding that he left the house without taking anything. Lemon said the cabin was situated at See CLUE, page 6A VICTIM CONFRONTS SUSPECT SHOCK JOCK Stern coming to The Edge For some, itll be as big as the second coming. For others, itll be the coming of the anti-Christ.

No matter your view, come Tuesday morning, Howard Stern will become a fixture of York morning radio, officials at 105.7 FM The Edge said Friday. Stern will probably open his Tuesday morning show with a shout out to York, said John Moschitta, program director for the alternative rock station, i The station teased the new addition during its Friday afternoon broadcast. Sterns program runs daily from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in nearly two dozen markets.

All the calls weve gotten have been very positive, Moschitta said. He is a little blue, a little outrageous. Some people may be turned off by that. But we get calls like that anyway because of some of our music. A lot of people have been calling saying, Our prayers have been answered, Moschitta added.

Krone believes the truth is there He manages to smile as others determine his fate again. i By SCOTT DODD Daily Record taff PHOENIX For the first time in four years, Ray Krone has a chance to feel confident. Hes off death row. His new trial has started. Hes sitting next to a lawyer he has faith in.

And he has the DNA tests and other evidence to prove his innocence. So hows he feeling? Nervous. Its real nerve-racking, he said. The Dover native spoke earlier this week from behind a plastic visiting room window in the Maricopa County Jail. It was tjie first prison interview his lawyer has allowed him to give.

Throughout it all, Krone has never wavered in his story that he was home asleep the night bartender Kim Ancona died at the CBS Lounge. His roommate, Steve Junkin, asleep in another room, backs him up. Krone said he will never accept a plea bargain, and he wont give up fighting. Theres two people who know for sure about the murder, he said. I know I didnt do it because I wasnt there, and the person who did it knows it.

At times during the hourlong interview, Krones frustrations showed. Hes mad at the system he believed would free him but instead sent him to prison. OPENING ARGUMENTS IN SECOND TRIAL BEGIN IN ARIZONA PagedA MAVOR COLLECTS CONCH Key West, shells out title Mayor Charlie Robertson is now an honorary conch. I understand, it is a very prestigious award, but Im not sure what its all about, the mayor said. Here is what happened: WSBA-AM morning guy Ralph Lockwood is visiting Key West, and while there, he ran into an aide of Monroe County Commissioner Wilhelmina Harvey at a bar.

Lockwood suggested hooking Harvey up with Robertson on the radio for some good-natured fun. While on the radio Friday morning, Harvey named Robertson an honorary conch, as in conch shell, the nickname for Key West residents. Not everybody gets to be an honorary conch, Harvey said. You gotta be very special. Harvey said the mayor joins such illustrious company as every president dating back to Harry Truman and the queen of England.

While they were chatting, did Harvey ask Robertson for some snow removal tips? i Thats very funny, Harvey said, noting that it was 85 degrees and sunny in Key West Friday. Most of the time, though, he shrugs off those feelings and smiles instead. He said he has as many things to be happy about like all the people trying to save his life as he does to make him upset. As he shifted on his stool, leaning back to think, Krone tried hard to find the words to describe what it feels like to be convicted of a murder he denies committing. See TALK, page 6A Victims mom blames Krone Florence Luckenbaugh, above, sat straight Friday as she recalled for a judge detail after detail about the attack she endured Jan.

24 at her home. A man came to her Hopewell Township home asking for directions twice. The second time, he forced his way in. She insisted the assailant, who wrapped a cord around her neck and beat her on the head, was Michael Wade Arnold, right. After hearing evidence from both sides, a judge bound the case over for trial and scheduled Arnold to enter his pleas at 9 a.m.

Feb. 29. Gasman, 56, suffered a heart attack four years ago when she learned of her only daughters death. She said Ancona, 36 at the time and a divorced mother of three children, was her darling. She has no sympathy for Krone or his family, who say he is also a victim in this case.

He is not a saint, she said. He is a vicious, violent human being. She bases that assessment on two complaints filed against Krone in the two years before the murder. Its a matter of record that he assaulted and battered two of his female postal co-workers, she said. Krone was not prosecuted after the complaints and has no criminal record.

By SCOTT DODD Daily Record staff PHOENIX Patricia Lou Gasman doesnt believe Ray Krones professions of innocence. Shes sure that hes the man who killed her daughter, Kim Ancona. He murdered my daughter. It was all cut and dried and proved at the first trial, she said in an interview Friday. Hes getting this new trial on the smallest legal technicality.

Gasman sat through opening arguments in court Friday in Phoenix, but she left early when the lead detective in the case took the stand and prepared to show pictures of her daughters naked and abused body. I just couldnt stay for that, she said. i Gov. Tom Ridges proposed budget calls for the closing of the states 60 health centers, including those in York and Adams counties, later this year. Those centers provide services without regard to the clients income, including confidential testing for HIV and counseling, home visits by registered nurses for health counseling, immunizations for children and investigation of infectious diseases and rabies. In their place. Ridge wants privately run operations contracted out on a competitive bid basis.

Hospitals are among entities interested in bidding for the work, using existing facilities and employees, said Bob Fisher, state Health Department press secretary. Ridges proposed 1996-97 budget shows the state would save about $1 million through the restructuring and an estimated $8, million each of the next four years. The savings essentially would come from the elimination of about 230 of the 258 jobs and an end to renting the centers. The budget is subject to approval by state legislators. At this point, I feel I have a split personality," Breighner said.

Im trying to say my last 25 years havent been in vain. Were about to lose something important or I wouldnt have stayed here 25 years. Its crazy, said Robert Walter, the community health nurse supervisor for two centers in York and Adams counties.
