The Winstons last record, "Color Him Father," was a huge success in its depiction of the hard-working black father in the ghetto. "Common People," written by the same team of Hurley and Wilkins, picks up on the same theme, that even in the ghetto or perhaps especially there the strength of the family bond gives hope and courage despite poverty. The chorus: FISHING EXPEDITION Country Joe and based rock bands, appear tomorrow night at the Fish, one of the original San Francisco- Rutgers University's New Brunswick campus.

The lyric mentions "runnin' scared, runnin' blue, runnin', back to L.A." Musically, the singer runs from the country (the fiddler's call) back to the big city. this call to arms when it declares "don't fight, too much to lose." Perhaps the Doors are ambivalent, but I suspect that the music not the words reveal the song's message. "Runnin' Blue" opens with a fiddler's call, a very different sound for the Doors, one Since 1939, The Barbizon School of Modeling on Fifth Avenue In New York has graduated thousands of girls Into modeling careers and helped countless others achieve "the look" that helps any career. The beauty of the Winston's style is that they always manage to get us to identify with the characters they portray in their songs. UNLIKE JAMES BROWN, who invokes us by arousing a physical response with his gutteral soul style, the Winstons use words and set their songs against the horns much the same way as a painter presents a figure against its background.

Emory Gordy's a a e-ment achieves this effect beautifully. He contrasts verses i i the cold world outside the family to reassuring chorus syncopating the solo vocal line with the drums and bass run. The solo verses are evocative and slow against the syncopation, but the chorus bursts forth in vocal harmony -and orchestration.
