One might reasonably expect to find the vegetable in a main dish or a soup, but who ever heard of asparagus being used in a cookie? The contest to uncover new and unusual ways of serving asparagus is again being conducted this year under the sponsorship of the New Jersey Asparagus Industry council. Blend in eggs, lemon extract Add dry ingredients; mix well. Stir in raisins and walnuts. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Serve the taffy cookies plain or frosted.

Makes 5 dozen. Ba Sei fro PINEAPPLE MARMALADE Ingredients: 1 large fresh pineapple, 2 lbs. sugar, 1 qt. water (4 measuring cups). Method: Grind pineapple, add to water and sugar.

Boil all together until done (about the consistency of honey). QUINCE MARMALADE Ingredients: 3 large quinces, 3 lbs. sugar; 2 qts. water. Method: Grate quinces, add to sugar- and water.

Boil all together until thick. (I try it on a saucer as for jelly.) PLUM BUTTER Ingredients: 5. lbs. fresh purple plums, 4 lbs. sugar, 1 cups, lemon juice, teaspoon doves, 1 to 2 tea- spoons cinnamon (use the amount you like to suit-your taste).

Method: Wash plums, do not peel, take out and boil in as little water Rub through-a add sugar, lemon juice, spices, and boil thick as for apple butter. Put in glasses and cover with white paraffin. Mrs. K. A.
